Romina Productions produced two films. Both starred Victor Mature. Escort West and China Doll. Mike produced several of his father’s movies.

Who says the adults in the 50's and early 60's didn't know how to have a good time? This put a genuine smile on my face.

I do exactly the same. After a stressful day and all the bad things we hear in the news all the time, such as shooting s, it is refreshing to watch the Groucho show by the end of the day. It puts a smile on my face.

Most of the world would do itself the same favor by ending the day that way - the rest of the world would be flummoxed by it all. This is such a wonderful program, impossible for it to 'get old'!

Michael Wayne, oldest of John's 7 children, would soon head the family production company Batjac responsible for his father's films. His wish for children led to five during his 45-yr marriage to Gretchen.

A stiff mayor, a hula dancer, and a vaudevillian master, all in a line. It's like the March of Progress drawing that shows ape evolving to man, only with dancing.

You can sure hear the sounds of The Ole Country shining through Groucho as he mixes a bit of Yiddish-&-German into the show. Groucho's father was from Alsace where French and German are spoken.

At 14:06 "Welcome to the world's most meshugenah show!" That means 'crazy' in Yiddish. This is not the first time Groucho used Yiddish and clearly referred to his Jewish heritage, synagogues, rabbis etc. It wasn't done much then. He was once refused a guest visit to swim at a 'restricted' country club because he was Jewish and asked if his daughter Melinda could go into the wading pool up to her waist because she was half Jewish.

Haaa...yes, have heard of that particular incident. And Groucho's response is just great wit and comedic command of the situation. Being half Jewish/Catholic....could well gather the lesson's that Groucho and others went through, before me..

"Napua" isn't pronounced "nah-pew-ah", but "nah-pooh-ah" - but she's either too polite or too cautious to correct Groucho. I met Napua Woodd (spelled with two D's) when she was quite elderly and was in the early stages of Alzheimer's, but she was wonderfully funny regardless. She was a comedy performer.

That goes to show them, some people think John Wayne was a horrible person. If he was, how could he have a nice, respectful son like Michael.
@caroler01
@caroler01 3 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t so much a horrible person as he vacillated between being right by wing but led a liberal private life. He was quite vocal about patriotism but never put on a uniform.
@stevej398
@stevej398 3 жыл бұрын
@@caroler01 He had a very bad knee injury that ended his football career. I imagine it would be a problem in the armed forces. With 4 kids and just starting a new career you did what you could to survive. There was no unemployment or disability in those days. I was never in the service either but I am very patriotic! What happened to you??? Venezuela and Cuba would probably suit your communistic beliefs better. Why don’t you give it a try???
@caroler01
@caroler01 3 жыл бұрын
@@stevej398 Wow. Unemployment and disability are socialist policies. Not Communism. So there is that. No one said he wasn’t patriotic. You should not feel bad for not having been in the services. 20 years U.S. Air Force does lead to a point of view. For not having served, you sure have a hair trigger.
@stevej398
@stevej398 3 жыл бұрын
@@caroler01 Yep! I had a father that was in the Air Force Reserve for 27 years. I was the oldest boy who took the abuse. So, yes I do have a hair trigger about a lot of things I believe in. I feel sorry sometimes for the people who get in the way of it, sometimes.
