Great stuff. You're right - it's a great approach to just buy the right stuff when it's at the right price. One of my best buys for Pringleton was a box of about 15 pre-assembled Metcalfe building for 15GBP! This more or less created the whole town for pennies, let alone the time saved. All the best 👍🚂

Hey Andy. I buy the vintage Tri-ang, Tri-ang Hornby, Honby, Hornby Dublo, Airfix etc for a DC only setup. I'm not interested in DCC and the added expence so only buy second hand. That is my call and I'm happy with running trains manually. As you say, with patience and a watchful eye you can get into the hobby at a level of finance that you can manage. It ia all modelling after all. We're all doing generally the same thing. Happy Trains and Happy Modelling. Mon

Hi Mon. Patience is most definitely the key in this hobby! I remember when I started out, I had none at all. I wanted the scenery all done, kind of in one day! hahaha. How wrong I was!!! Cheers, Andy

I'm down to just 1 new loco a year these days. This year it was the Accurascale class 31. All the rest are older used items which are partly funded by selling off even older stuff. I had a fair bit of Triang, Wrenn, etc. that never got used. Some of the nicer locos with a Ringfield style motor I've put in CD motors instead which are quieter and better at low speed. Before the pandemic I used to get wagons and sometimes coaches for 99cents, and locos for $20. Many are now being sold on at today's prices.

The '31 would be a nice loco! I still have a few of my older locos too, that I have replaced the ringfields with CD motors. They work very well! This hobby can be expensive, thats for sure. Cheers, Andy
