Why America is not inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is beyond me. They're one of the first bands I remember hearing in my life. Since a very small child, I've been captivated by their music. They're an incredible band. My God, for 'Horse With No Name' alone they deserve to be inducted. Love them. Thank you so much, America. Sweet memories 💖

Yes I also agree why America is not in the Rock n Roll HOF!! In my teens I grew up and followed their big hits. Great acoustic guitar sounds.🎵 Why are there disco/rap musicians inducted? America is history in music and our hearts.🎼
@echoface16702 жыл бұрын
it's because the RRHF is worthless. They are irrelevant because they select the most mediocre, or semi popular groups, or non rock n roll to be put on this pedestal. We all know the greats are recognized by their true fans. America is one for sure.

I'll answer all your questions, America is not really Rock Music..... It's pop music, top 40 type stuff. Even the Beatles are more rock than this band. Sometimes America sounds like Country Music. Sometimes they sound like Folk Music. Name one song of theirs that really rocks. Crickets........... I like them too, I would buy this greatest hits album, I will buy it. But that does not make them rock music. Slava tebe BOZSHE ☦️🇷🇺🌍🌎📿🙏 Amin.

I was 7 years old and the band America was playing on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. They then played Right Before Your Eyes. Me and my brothers were with my mother at my sick grandfather's home. The last day I saw him, other than his funeral. As we listened to the music play, my mother called for an ambulance, taking my grandfather away. For many months, I recall my mom always being at the hospital. In December, he passed away. I'm now 44 and time has flown by. When I hear this song, my inner child goes back to that day. This song gives me a homesick, bittersweet feeling of nostalgia.

First time I saw this special girl we were both 14, but I knew that she was a lot more than a crush. As time went on she had my heart but I was too shy and stupid to let her know how I felt. It was heart breaking watching her with other boys. After H.S. 1967 I thought I would never see her again and I gave up on myself. My heart would always be hers, I was just plain lost. Long story short, four months later she found out I was 500 miles away going to school not knowing anyone in the new city. I received a Letter from an Angel! It was from that special girl I had loved for four years. This was my one last chance to tell her how I felt about her. We wrote letters to each other every day. I flew home for Thanksgiving ( to her). Four months later I asked her to marry me, she smiled with tears in her eyes and said YES with a soft kiss. We will celebrate our 53rd Anniversary on Aug. 2nd, 2021. So yes as this beautiful song says, "You can do Magic". Never give up on yourself because someone out there has Magic in there heart. Thank you "America" for this special song.

Formed in 1970, this band embodied American soft rock for several decades. They played this masterpiece and all their classics at an open air concert, Tower City Amphitheater, Cleveland, OH, in Sep 2004, & they still sounded great. So many wonderful songs - A Horse With No Name (later utilised brilliantly in the Mel Gibson-Robert Downey Jr movie, Air America), Ventura Highway, Sister Golden Hair, & then of course this one, You Can Do Magic, that returned them to the US Top 10 in 1982.

About 2 or 3 years ago, Downtown Catherine Brown (as she billed herself) played this song on her late morning show on WBOQ, Gloucester, MA (back when they played recognizable music). I hadn't heard this song in years and, frankly, had forgotten it even existed. That evening I dug it up on KZbin and immediately made it one of my favorites, frequently coming back to hear it again. What a hauntingly beautiful piece of art! Thank you, Catherine.

What a great but under appreciated band America was! So many beautiful songs in the 70's...I Need You, Ventura Highway, Lonely People, Sister Golden Hair, and so many others. But this particular song, it came out in 1982, always takes me back to more carefree days in college and all the beautiful girls I knew.
