Thank you so much! When the second dryer we received under warranty started failing with the exact same reason as the first. I was getting prepared for the worst. This is the only resource I could find that actually gave the solution. Our condenser was completely clogged and the dryer was taking 5 hours to do a light load. I owe you a beer!

Super useful, thank you. Our dryer must be ten years old and it's only recently occurred to me that the reason it's taking ages to dry, and that it seems to complain about the lint filter being full when it's not, could be the condenser being clogged. Searched for how to do it, and found this video - perfect!

If you know the pitch between the condenser fins you can get a cheap radiator fin comb to straighten them out. I'm running a second hand Bosch self cleaning heat pump dryer. It's about 10 years old. Just replaced the tumbler belt and the bearing. Still somehow works and dries like a champ. It did cost me 80 quid though.
@seamusspratt72055 ай бұрын
As an appliance engineer I have seen this problem loads of times on these bosch Siemens dryers 😌 the problem is the self cleaning doesn't work a solenoid on the draw let's condensed water run over the front of the condenser during the cycle 😳 the other problem it causes is all the crap runs down and eventually blocks all the condensed water channels and pump 🙄 the best way to completely clear the whole condenser and condensed water channels is a complete strip down removing the entire heat pump assy and jet washing it cleaning ,this then allows access to the condenser channels underneath the evaporator 🫡 it's a good 2 to 3 hour job but restores it to as new drying times 😎 they are a real pain to work on even a belt replacement is major strip down job🫣 they have learned their lesson and the latter models are classed as easy clean and have a removable panel to clean out the condenser. They have also made the gaps between the fin's on the condenser wider so don't block up so easily and easier to clean.,also there is a fairly wide gap underneath the evaporator to clean out stops the pump from getting blocked so easily 😎 a vast improvement and a well built dryer
@est99495 ай бұрын
I'm deciding between the models with vs without the self-cleaning option. What do you say are the cons of the self-cleaning one in the updated models? I'm not very handy to do things outside of what's designed for the user to do in the manual. Is it still preferable to go for a manual-cleaning model for more worry-free maintenance? Thanks.

I have this exact heat pump dryer for 8 years now. I had a Bosch engineer out 3 times now to clean the so called self cleaning condenser. Yes it’s a big job as the whole dryer has to stripped down to access the condenser. Bosch have clearly failed on their self cleaning technology. It’s a shame because it works like a dream again once the condenser is cleaned.

Excxellent video. I Would like to add that if you remove the condenswater pump at the rear, you can flush the radiator thoroughly with a garden hose and a stiff water beam (not high pressure). Out comes a turd of dirt that even a St Bernhard dog would be ashamed of. On the fly , clean the waterlevel sensor (two inox beams). So, self cleaning, Siemens - Really? That's the usual markteting-made up nonsense. You should clean the condensor every time the achievements of your dryer fall short of your expectations. Unfortunately it is quite a hassle but it can be done.

@@ingridaartunbe8957 Have a look at www.bosch-home.co.uk/customer-service/spare-parts-search You need to enter the E-Nr number for your machine and it will take you to a parts diagram of sorts. we have an AEG with similar filter setup and 'had' the same issues of small amounts of fluff still getting through. After a cleaning via a hose down and dry I put to myself how can this be improved with filtering moisture laden air without restricting airflow. my train of thought went to filters for aquariums and now I use "Fluval" filterpad in the cavity between the original filter and the condenser
@Chris.Tustain11 ай бұрын
after a few weeks/ months of use I pull out the Fluval and vacuum it clear and replace back into the cavity, eventually it did get so pulled apart from the years of vacuuming; I actually replaced with fresh section and there is plenty in the original purchase (in other words, "one bag lasts years for such a cheap option / experiment " )

How long did you have it before it ended up like this pal? Looking to purchase a new tumble dryer myself but don’t want to waste money on a self cleaning one if it doesn’t actually work! Think the main issue with the heat pump dryers is the issue you have in this video and i don’t think the part is easily removable on any them regardless of brand, but I could be wrong. Would you have rather have bought a standard condenser model to avoid this issue as I know you can remove this part on them and clean it out thoroughly. I know the heat pump models are more efficient at first, but how long does that actually last before it becomes false economy due to it getting clogged up like this and it being virtually un-cleanable except the front part that you cleaned in this video, which I would imagine is even worse on dryers without the self cleaning function.
@50plusdad-uk11 ай бұрын
This is about 5 years old now, I have cleaned it before but without cutting the panel out so it was more a quick poke with a hoover (hence the bent fins on the condenser) and just because I was cleaning the 2 removable filters. This time it was not drying as well so I went all in at it, Our problem is 2 Husky cross dogs their fur gets everywhere so what ever we have gets covered in it, there is probably fur in all my videos if you look close enough. But it did take 5yrs to get this bad so we are happy with ours over a standard dryer.

@bogdannb my freezer is ok so far, dishwasher e15, tumble dryer condenser clogged and the washing machine shock absorbers went causing it to try and escape during spin cycle.

Thanks for the video but sadly this is just the tip of the ice berg and won’t solve the real problem. Probably the heater unit is clogged with a thick layer of dust a that can’t be cleaned unless you disassemble the dryer. Look at this video how to do it kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWi3fZ-ai9Cfn8ksi=qHWwdunYmVeM6hJP

Thanks for watching, @Mentaspex mentions pulling the pump at the rear and flushing through with low pressure water, this might be an easier way rather than pull most of the dryer apart, mine works fine after cleaning the front part but my main problem is dog fur from 2 Huskies. 👍

It depends, wherever you have earlier revision of this dryer, which has only 1 lint filter, or second revision, which has 2 lint filters. Later they added very fine lint filter in order to prevent the heater and condenser unit from being clogged. You can find this comment in the video that you linked. If you look at that video, the dryer on that video has only 1 filter, thats why there is so much lint inside. I have later revision of this dryer and plan to do this, but not because my dryer takes forever to dry the clothes, but because the clothes started to stink after taken out from the dryer. I tried bosch original cleaning solution for heat pump tumble dryer, but it did not help, so I am suspecting it will be the condenser.

you didn't fix anything like this the condenser is clogged from the inside, and you only cleaned the outside... That machine cannot be cleaned without complete disassembly, which is cost-effective

Mine works much better now. I have another way of cleaning that gets in a lot deeper. 👍

@@50plusdad-uk you just put off the problem for later. the air flow is inevitably constantly reduced on machines with heat pumps, and it is impossible to clean them without complete disassembly, which cannot be done at home.

Bosh service raadt aan een droogkast 8 series van 8 jaar oud, naar containerpark te voeren ipv technieker langs te sturen. Fijn, nooit geen bosh meer dank je. 😒
