Math and art require the same type of practice. In art the most one consuming part of practice is not doing art, rather it’s is time taken to understand what and how you observe something so that you can translate it to the the page. In mathematics that process is wholly internal.

She attends trade school so a college algebra/trig/calc course is really not available to her. I want to get her into fun, proof based maths as quickly as possible. Is this the book? Or is there better for a total beginner? I myself am beginning grad school in the fall and have ample teaching experience, just looking for some pedagogical advice. Edit: looking at the introduction it seems like they need a calculus background. Any opinion is useful.

In one book on Abstract Algebra by Lara Alcock, I notice that author uses barred arrow for mapping only elements to elements, and plain arrows for mapping sets to sets. Her commutative diagrams all illustrates her usage of barred arrows.

We have 4 semesters of maths for economists (calculus and linear algebra) and some statistics/probability courses (4). The problem is that in our calculus classes, there are zero trigonometry... We have been up to some basic constrained optimization and lagrangian and will will do differential equations next year. Same for linear algebra, it's mostly matrices, without no trig.. Do you think it's a problem for someone planning to study statistics in a master ? Sorry, I know my question is not related to your vidéo, and thank you for all your contents! Cheers

Why do they make us study proofs in Geometry in highschool in America? I understand that those proofs and these are different and at a different level but when I was in highschool when I would ask the teacher for a concrete answer for why we were being required to study proofs in Geometry the teacher was unable to provide me a concrete answer for why we were learning proofs to me in Geometry because to me and for me it was very hard, confusing, and abstract. I loved Algebra in school, I did not like Goemetry in school, but I loved Biology, History, Spanish, reading, and Chemistry.
