I found you by accident and gotta say: I love your content. I have no idea why you have less than 10k subs (at this time) because you are easily in the top 10 when it comes to quality material. You need to do an ancounter with a Marid Pirate!!!

Same! I found him about a year ago thanks to his Lycanthrope video, and I have been subscribed since. It's amazing how great his old content still is, and how much he has grown. It's not easy to get better if you started out really good anyways, but Hidden Nerdy Side managed to do it.

I did the magic item one as a way to introduce the history of a new world setting. The players were a "set" of magic items that got a +2 boost when they were gathered which explained why adventurers would seek out the "whole party". Play a couple of games controlling the adventurers actions through "suggestion" which of course allowed me to stop them from doing anything too stupid (oh look your wielder passed its save, not going to jump off that cliff today). Then when the wielders finished their quest and went their separate ways the items would have "down time" then be reunited decades later when a new group of adventurers managed to collect them all. As ages passed instead of leveling up the items would gather additional abilities or upgrade their base abilities IE: Flaming Sword that dealt +1D4 fire damage increased to 1D6, all the way to 1D12 over the course of several sessions. This way they saw the rise and fall of kingdoms, got to know the historical figures, traveled all over the map into every possible environment, and had a call backs when their items or wielders were encountered or mentioned in future campaigns.

I had an idea somewhat inspired by Ajin anime, where the characters for some reason cannot die (they magically heal and regenerate after some time), but the world treats it with mistrust and as anomaly, kidnaping/arresting anyone who turns out to be like this and conducting experiments to figure out what's going on (and potentially how to use it). The main difficulty I have with this is how to implement this into the mechanics as taking away death saves and death/resurection is still a huge thing. I mean dying is still inconvenient, because you risk being spotted regenerating and captured but I still don't want the characters to feel too invincible, especially if the game would be something more than a one shot/mini campaign

For the BBEG of the Corporate Giants campaign idea I have two words. "Nanomachines son". *It has to be this way begins playing in the background*

For the corporate giants/warlock inc ideas, the Acquisitions Incorporated module would probably be really useful as a lot of the mechanics in that are designed around this very idea

I think it'd be helpful to preface this with you can run any D&D style game within D&D. You can pick a setting as long as it's in the style and format of D&D. This is different than you can run any campaign in D&D.

for the gods testicles idea (why on earth did I pick this one to think about) I actually think I have a good idea (well, I guess relatively good). It's a one shot where your players play mid to high level characters (like 12 or 17 or something) in a universe just being created(birthed?) by whatever god you want for the setting, all the terrain is chaotic as it's being ripped apart and reformed constantly and the goal of the campaign would be either A. flee the universe into another one that already exists or B. find a safe spot to wait for the god to finish creating the universe.

Metal Gear Rising as a dnd campaign?
@cockman84372 жыл бұрын
Of course! The idea of mgr was just a political intrigue people like Armstrong (US President) going against raiden which is an international mercenary, typically bodyguard jobs of world leaders, it could be as long as you want though if you just did everything from the Raiden saga it would probably be best suited for a "short campaign" depending on the length of the sessions with at least 1 combat at the end of each being bosses like Jetstream Sam, Monsoon, etc.

@@cockman8437 yeah! And you could go either scifi or fantasy thanks to artificers, explainig the high tech such as cyborgs as magical artifical enhancements (everyone starts with a +1 armor lol)

The world is an endless white room with nothing to interact with but the floor. bet you can't make this work.
@HiddenNerdySide2 жыл бұрын
Well, one of the points was "there needs to be enough to engage with," but fine - I'll play your game 😂 An endless white room with nothing to interact with, eh? So your adventurers are stuck inside of it and go crazy, causing the actual adventure to take place inside their fractured psyche. The campaign is an amalgamation of their memories and delusional thoughts of what could be if they weren't going insane in solitude. The randomness of the dice rolls further drives home their declining mental state, showing not even their dreams can go the way they want them to. That would be trippy and awesome!

No god's testicles campaign example - shame. Otherwise great video! P.S.: In the god's testicles there is a battle between souls of heroes to become a new son of the god. Party must fight other heroes and monster (metaphors for STDs) to achieve godhood. Could be oneshot or a short/long campaign.

I am on the other side of the argument though somewhat. There's no need to be rude, saying I "Limit your creativity" or something like that, but if you want to make a modern campaign... DnD is not your best bet. Sure, you can run a campaign in any world from the forgotten realms or in the world of an eternal sky, populated by small islands with their own distinct cultures, where orcs have polynesian vibe culture and kobolds fly in giant mechanical warships. But really, at SOME point the world is so far from fantasy of any kind, playing it in DnD would be like buying a car and cutting it in half instead of geting a motorcycle. And don't give me the "Oh, but you wouldn't want to learn new systems" - yeah, FATEcore is about as complicated as a rock on a stick and can fit into literally any setting even better than DnD. But the sad truth is that no other system will ever be as profitable, iconic and sellable as the Dragons, so DnD ends up being the only one out there, because its the only one out there, in an endless cycle.
