Need to repair the spikes! That upgrade keeps them from being destroyed but when they "break" they don't do damage any more. Read the tooltip when you get the upgrade.

It may or may not help, but it seems like torches could have helped. The speed reduction was dependent on light, and what you said in the start with the archer being attacked suggested it affects accuracy, but I've never played this game before. So--maybe not.

I love what you are doing and I most of the time I look to these vids to find a game to play. But I don't know what level or where you are in the game but this is not what I was given to play with when I tried this game out. I got screwed with a tiny plot of land with only a sliver to build not even enough space for a 2 plot farm and a training camp and no stone, the first wave was 80 strong that happened in just under 5 mins. Not fun at all.
