You CAN NOT EAT this Leather Donut!
This week we got an order from a customer to make a leather Donut bag charm, and that's just what we did! I've never made a bag charm before, and it was a super fun project. We used leather from our scrap bin as well as some hermann oak natural veg for strcture and even added Ritza Tiger thread sprinkles! If you make a bag charm of any shape, make sure to tag us on instagram @CorterLeather

I gotta say, you guys have some of the best calm leatherworking videos I've found. I actually prefer the commentary over the quieter videos. And, as someone who actually made a few wallets after watching your stuff, every video seems to have some new tip that I can use! "Stitch from the opposite side of the direction you poked holes"! Love that.

Thank you for everything you provide to us (viewers/subscribers). I love your calming voice, your down-to-earth, easy-to-follow instruction, and your lack of music (too many KZbinrs blast us with music in which case I just quickly shut it off). I am seriously addicted to watching your videos and have learned so much!! Please keep ‘em coming and don’t change your video making style! :-)

I loved this video! Really fun watching the design and construction happen sorta in real time as you worked your way through it. Plus the video editing and narration was great, I really appreciated showing a sample of the "20 minutes of confusion" on the strap, and the "here's this fancy stitching trick we're going to... absolutely not bother with come to think of it" bit. As a very amateur maker myself, it's always encouraging to see that even talented and experienced professionals like yourself still have to stop and think things out and make last minute changes on the fly - and still get superb end results!

The pink... Eric, I believe that is from when you made that bag for your sister... it's italian, Dakota Barbie from "district leather supply".

How cool! Can you make a video explaining which tools, as in our punching sets, we should match up with which threads, like what sizes of punches go with what sizes of threads. I find this a bit frustrating as a newbie who is ordering materials online. thank you so much for your very helpful videos.

Now i want to make a bag charm too! I just need to find mint green leather from somewhere. I have a strong aversion to pink… because it’s always something strawberry flavored on food and i am deathly allergic to strawberries! :’D

What is the type of rubber that your pounding board is made of? Are these commercially available? I have been using an HDPE cutting board but it appears that your board “gives” more and you don’t have to hammer it so hard.

Neat idea but you didn't show how you got the donut strap around the bag handle. Secret? If it's sown you can't remove it, but if it's snapped you can. So, how did you do it? Magic? I went back and watched it a couple more times and I believe you said you riveted it.
