These midi converters never work all that well. I had a bandmate who had an electric guitar midi converter and it was incredibly finicky, bad envelopes, cutting off the notes too early or sometimes it even got the wrong pitch. And forget about polyphony. I can only guess what this one is going to do with someone who isn't a perfect singer.

It’ll be cool if there was an option where you can choose specific notes you want, so that it auto correct toward them. Because I can’t sing beatbox or put notes in well. Something like the key and stickiness but better. And if I sing a wrong note, it’ll autocorrect it to make it either more fluid or goes to the closes correct note you feel me? That’ll be epic

@ToyKeeper
@ToyKeeper 3 жыл бұрын
It'd be nice if Reaper had a clip view in addition to its timeline view, but I haven't found that to be a huge issue in practice. The really nice thing is how the entire program is customizable almost without limit. It offers some defaults, but the main value is how the user configures it to meet their needs. It's like a build-your-own-DAW toolkit with a default theme to use as a starting point. So I can totally see how that would be uninviting, depending on the user. Most people want stuff to just work. But for a programmer or someone who really likes to customize things in detail, it's the most inviting DAW around.

I remember thinking "what if" about this type of invention years ago, and then someone went and did it! YES!!! The bane of musicians is having this quick idea that's in their head and then needing to get it out of their head as accurately and quickly as possible without losing it, and at the same time, the tedium of using technology often makes you forget what something sounded like in your head that first time you came up with it. Then you just lose it! That is why these kinds of inventions are always welcome. You can always record rhythms in your voice immediately and then change it up later.

This is the best video I've seen on Vochlea. I've been sitting on the fence for months because of the price after converting to CND... you may have convinced me.

I'm buying this for the drum functionality alone. I hate programming drums, so I keep an electric kit in my room in order to lay down drum demos. The problem is, I'm not a very good drummer, and having a physical kit is fun and all, but I really don't need one and it takes up a lot of space in my room. Trading that out for a single microphone and the ability to make drum demos with my voice sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Even in writing this is super useful! No more hearing a melody and not being able to figure out how to play it just sing and it’ll tell you what notes to play

Andrew, I have a rare piece of gear from the 80s called the MIDI-mic, it's basically the grandpa of this! It was given to me, in the original case. I could find very little info about it online. Looks like a vacuum cleaner attachment but worked fine when I tried it! If you're interested, feel free to message me about it!

Can this be triggered by acoustic instruments such as guitar or flute or is it only able to recognize the voice ?

Also might be worth checking out Imitone, which I believe uses an existing mic rather than propietary hardware.

First off, you're so damn talented musically, and such a great content producer, so thanks for that. I've been wondering about this package for a while, but wasn't ready throw down the cash without knowing how well it worked. Now I know. Can't wait to get my hands on this!

very cool...been doing similar with Studio One for years. Not all the bells and whistles and not polyphonic, but its amazing how much you can do w/out a keyboard theses days. Add a little Scaler and you've got a hands free production. Thanks for all the great stuff over the years Andrew!
