I’m so disappointed with the situation of the Videos and the people who are teaching limits and understanding that some people have to have hands on, and that’s 👁🌀👁‼️ME😎💪🏼🔥Major inspiration for the guitar is Adam Jones , Jimmy Page , and the legendary guitar virtuoso RandyRoads Zack BLS Wild , AND MANY OTHERS BUT RIGHT NOW AT 53 the passion is everything and Immense,, so I need help

Open chords E minor, C major and A minor have all needed notes on three highest strings. So their shape can be moved up the neck. So if I park my index finger on A-fret across three strings that makes an A minor. If I then fret the middle string one fret up with my middle finger it turns into a F major and if I then fret the third string two frets up with my ring finger it is now a D minor. And if I then lift my middle finger it turns into a D sus2. The root is under the last finger. And sliding the index finger two frets up there's easy a B minor, a G major, an E minor and an E sus2 . And so on. Very easy. Also adding the fourth string gives you very easily m7, M7, add9, m7/11, and 7sus4. But I let you all count that yourselves, it helps you to remember the fretboard.

Cool video. I'd take a step further and only play the notes in triad using only 3 strings. My logic: 1. More defined and tighter sound and strikes only the strings you need. 2. Economy of movement to adjacent triads. 3. Less energy used form chords. This frees up fingers to play other notes, adding color and nuance to your playing.

Brian..You are one of the best teachers out there ! When you do tutorials on songs ..you explain details ,even on the small things..kuddos for that ! I have noticed that your music theory videos do not get as many viewers as your individual songs..I think that most of us are just lazy bedroom players and theory drive us mad . Maybe more lessons on 'how to' on songs requests?🤔?? Maybe 'obscure songs' that there are no covers or tutorials for them? Thinking of 'Mr Ten Dollar Man' by ZZTOP or the like. I know it's quite a bit of work. Just a suggestion !! Stay safe boss !! keep the great work coming !! Thanks!!

Thank you for all the lessons and knowledge in a understandable growing expanding style. I like the way you where like forget caged for now to not offend. Then busted out basically E, G A, C shapes out of the box without calling them caged. Lol I do understand them from just learning bar chords an how they work. Just need the D. Then that branches into the 4 triads shapes on the 1,2,3 strings.

This is great Brian - thanks for the lesson on how powerful these shapes are (triads and full chords). With a bit of repetition I've been able to drill these into my thick skull and slow brain. Doing so really changed my confidence level on the guitar. I really like your presentation of it though - particularly the real-time plotting of the notes / fretboard as you demonstrate things. It seems like a simple thing - but a LOT of other lessons only talk thru it / demonstrate and it's tough to put the pieces together...

Hi Brian, ZombieGuitar site member here. Suggestion: please make a "product" section for guitar warm-up practice. Cheers, Happy Zombie Guitar customer/subscriber.

Brian, your channel is highly undervalued and your instruction is always so helpful! This is great to reinforce the connection that 2 of the chords shapes share the same root note, and this made it really click for me. This makes me think too that it's not really "caged" as much as it is just "cage" since the D shape is basically part of the C shape anyway. So just 4 chords is easier to remember, and I liked that connection you helped me make where it's basically just 2 root notes and just 2 shapes each. Easy peasy.
@zombieguitar
@zombieguitar 2 жыл бұрын
Well all of the shapes connect together...so you can't just completely ignore the D shape (when explaining the CAGED system). But I do agree with you in that if 1 of the 5 shapes is to be ignored, that poor D-shape would be the first to go 🤣

Excellent, explanation of the CAGED shapes. Your videos make it all seem obvious. How does one practice to get to the point to be able to jam along with a chord sequence without having to think about which particular 1, 3, 5, etc. notes to play. It seems like if you have to think about it, even for a split second, you'll be behind the music every time. In other words, how do you practice specifically, to be able make the changes intuitive, if that makes sense? It seems even if you internalized the entire fretboard cold, soloing or jamming to music still needs a missing skill. Is ear training that missing piece? Just trying to figure out how to work towards that next level. Thank you.
