Reginald (aka Reggie) came on a Panama Relocation Tour in 2019 then relocated to Boquete Panama a few months later. In this video, he talks about how he has been able to significantly reduce his cost of living which has taken the stress away about retirement. He is actually saving money during retirement because his costs are so low it does not take all his Social Security or pension to afford a very comfortable lifestyle.
Reggie talks about living in Boquete where he can get a really good meal at a Panamanian restaurant for less than $5 and it is $15 to see an English-speaking doctor without insurance. Because the weather is so mild in Boquete, daytime temps in the mid-70s, it is much more comfortable to walk outside and you do not need air conditioning in your home.
Listen to his recommendations for anyone who is considering a move to Panama!
(NOTE: During the pandemic, we are extremely limited on where we can go to shoot videos so you'll see more videos of Boquete and Chiriqui Province because that is the only place we can go to shoot videos now. As soon as Panama's borders open up more, we will be able to get more videos in other areas.)

I feel the same way especially without driving. And Boquete is like Cuenca Ecuador, where there is no heavy humidity and heat! I would work to follow in Reginald's footsteps. Reginald, how do you feel about high import taxes for buying online?? It's so great the way we think alike despite being from different backgrounds !

My wife and I can’t wait to get the hell out of here. Our goal is to move to Mexico when I’m 54 (just turned 47). We’re both fluent in Spanish and both have a lot of family there. I’ve known a few men who have retired in their 60’s and passed away shortly after. That’s the absolute saddest. We’re working to live, not living to work. Great video

Worrell? My karate Master Sensei's last names were also Worrell. They owned, taught and ran an academy in Panama. One was born in 1950 and the other in 1954, so they are likely retired by now, but maybe their Academy is still open. They were extremely high-ranking and very highly regarded black belt karatekas in Panama. Leonel and Arturo were their first names. Direct disciples of Nakayama in Japan.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. And thank you for actually using the word Immigrant. So many Americans are afraid to use that word. Because in the U.S. Immigrant carries so much negative baggage. Welcome to Panama!! You will probably live longer here too. I've seen people look younger after being here for 3 years. And I'm not making that up either. You'll see what I mean after a couple of years. lol Enjoy!!

Foreigners can indeed own property in Panama. It just can be within 10 miles of the border. For that you'd either have to rent or become a citizen. But, obviously, most properties are not within 10 miles of any border, so you should be more than ok. Hope that helps.
