It's so wonderful that it was a young chap who wanted a sustainable bouquet 💐. Hope they loved it.

Thank you so much! I’ve had such a hard week so far and needed some garden therapy. You inspired me to go out and collect whatever I thought I could use for a bouquet. I’m a brand new gardener & flower grower here in the Deep South, USA. It was nearly 90 today here near Tuscaloosa, Alabama-Zone 8. To say I have NO IDEA what I’m doing is an understatement. I’m shocked! I can’t believe I did it but I just smashed it all together and made one of the most beautiful arrangements I’ve ever made! Better yet, I put it in a carved pumpkin to give it that autumnal vibe. Much needed therapy! Thanks again! 💚

Thanks so much for this Kathryn. The bouquet is simply stunning - and it's heartwarming that a young man should want a 'natural' bouquet with locally grown flowers. It shows what the flowers (and the recipient) mean to him. Thanks for explaining everything - especially about succession planting and growing more perennials. I'm afraid my gladioli are getting succession planted whether they like it or not lol. I got the first lot of corms in this week but the rest of my orders are delayed because of our lockdown here in NZ. Take care :)

Thanks for lovely supportive note Jacinta. Interesting you are talking about gladioli and today I've been prepping a trench to plant another load of daffodils. Tricky to get your head around this northern / southern hemisphere thing ha ha.

My dahlias don’t seem to last long in the vase do you have any tips and do you include plant food with your bouquets? Thanks, really enjoying your videos!

Thanks for your lovely comment- and yes! Cut with super sharp secateurs so you avoid crushing the stem and put into water straight away! So literally cut and dunk immediately- they have hollow stems so you have to avoid air pockets- and I never use plant food just very very clean vases - hope that helps

I find penstemon droop after a couple of days, do you have any tips?
@fierceblooms3 жыл бұрын
Hello 👋 Dave I choose stems from a mature plant with flowers that aren’t fully open and conditioning them correctly is the key thing- I cut in the morning and leave for 24 hours - hope that’s helpful- where are you in the world?
