When you blend the purple over the microglaze, doesn't that mix the glaze with your inkpad when you go back for more ink? You said just prior that it would ruin your ink pad.

Hello! Great question, It didn't because I dabbed off the extra micro glaze with the paper towel before blending the ink. You add such a small amount of the glaze to your blender that the only spot that has any kind of build up is around the edges of the stencil. That is what you need to dab off. I can see why that would not be very clear in my explanation. When you are blending it in with the foam blender, it is going into the cardstock, so you can dab off all the excess and what absorbed into the cardstock will act as the resist. I just didn't want to buff or rub it off because the excess would smear on the cardstock and distort the stenciled image. I hope that made sense.

Awesome techniques with Micro Glaze! I never thought of using it as a resist. That looks so cool! I have had mixed results using it as a sealer, though. When I've sealed water-based marker coloring or water-based sprays on something like smooth bristol or mixed media paper, the ink hasn't fully sealed. :( It was maybe better than nothing, but liquid glue (what I was using to adhere things to the inked paper) still reactivated the ink. Does the kind of paper make a difference? I know the bristol has a coating of some sort on it, which helps ink to blend rather than the paper sucking the ink in. I'm not sure about mixed media paper in that regard, however. (I use Strathmore brand.) Just curious about that. It is somewhat frustrating for it not to seal completely, though. Anyway, thank you for sharing these tips & techniques. Take care, & have a wonderful day! :)

Thank you so much! I have found that depending on the type of paper/cardstock and how well I rub in the micro glaze, depended on how well it worked as a resist. I have not used it to seal a ton of projects but the few that I did seal, have stayed. Were the sprays completely dry before sealing? Also, if you heat it with the heat gun too much, it will melt it and not work as a sealer. I will look into what would cause it to not seal and get back to you. I do really prefer to use my finger than the foam blender when I am working on a small enough project because I do feel I have more control.

@@kimmieb1648 Thanks for your reply! I always use my finger to apply Micro Glaze, then buff it with a paper towel. As for attempting to seal my projects, the markers and sprays were dry in both cases, & I didn't use my heat tool at all after applying the glaze. I just think it's weird & kind of frustrating. Please let me know if you find anything out - I would really appreciate it. Thanks again, & have a wonderful day! :)

Cool. Don't you have to let the MicroGlaze dry before you apply ink over it?
@kimmieb16482 жыл бұрын
Good question! You don't have to let it dry because you are putting such a small amount over the image and buffing the excess. I had to dab (rather than buff) on the stencil project because I didn't want to smear the design, but I was able to remove the excess by dabbing. I do not believe it ever really 'dries' at it is a waxy substance. But I am going to do an experiment, I put a glob on a piece of paper and hung it on my 'to do' board to see if it dissipates or just hangs around. It is very important to dab/buff excess off before touching a blender brush to it though. I hope that helps! :)
