Not if the kid was kidnapped years ago and the kids injury happened while under the “care” of the kidnappers. He was taken to the hospital by paramedics without the kidnappers knowledge and when they arrived they tried taking him home Against Medical Advice (AMA) which you have to sign some papers to do so. And if the case is bad enough the hospital won’t even allow that. All the circumstances make it to where the bill is paid for by the state. The REAL child’s family won’t have to pay a damn thing.👍🏻

I'm not trying to preach to you but your story sounded so sad to me I had to say something. And don't get me wrong I have had my days where I didn't think God listen to me either. But I also know there have been things in my life that I know with everything in me was only by the grace of God so I can't sit and pretend that he doesn't exist and doesn't listen or answer prayer because I know he does. I don't believe that G-d, being responsible for all of existence, can answer every prayer individually and save every sick person. I believe that G-d would hate to see a person die because they reject modern medicine. My sister was just diagnosed with MS. I went to synagogue to say the Prayer for Healing, but I will also support my sister through all her medical care. The prayer brought me comfort, the medicine brings my sister health.

In reality, if the treatment refused could cause harm to the minor eg injury, death or disability, doctors have the right to overrule parents' wishes eg a case where Jehovah's witness parents refuse blood transfusion for their child.

From what I’ve read just because the doctor thinks he’s better than the parent doesn’t immediately mean he can override their decision. Apparently the doctor still need to get approval from the courts and prove to the medical community how beneficial the operation is. Basically the doctor can’t decide on their own.

@@Jose.AFT.Saddul If it's emergent, like in this case, he can overrule them. In this case, if the child was not treated ASAP, his ICP can increase causing his brain to herniate , leading to coma or death. I doubt he'd even have to reach out to the hospital authorities convene an ethical committee. At best maybe, inform his boss, who'd back him. According to the material on US medical ethics I read, parents don't have the total say over their children's medical fate.

@@gbolahanbada5787 I feel like a doctor operating without consent even if it life life-saving could lead to a malpractice suit. That's why hospitals have consent forms. Even in the emergency rooms. I even looked up the case involving the Jehovah’z witness parent refusal. And the medical practioners need to get permission from the courts. That could be why the doctor couldnt do as much as the police woman.

@@Jose.AFT.Saddul This is an excerpt from First Aid for USMLE Step 1 used by candidates who want to sit for the 1st level of medical licensing exams in the US about consent for minors "A minor is generally any person < 18 years old. Parental consent laws in relation to healthcare vary by state. In general, parental consent should be obtained, but exceptions exist for emergency treatment (eg, blood transfusions) or if minor is legally emancipated (eg, married, self-supporting, or in the military). Situations in which parental consent is usually not required: 1. Sex (contraception, STIs, prenatal care-usually not abortion) 2. Drugs (substance use disorder treatment) 3. Emergency/trauma Physicians should always encourage healthy minor-guardian communication. Physician should seek a minor’s assent (agreement of someone unable to legally consent) even if their consent is not required".

"We believe the only heal he needs is the healing power of prayer." In my opinion only psychopaths tell that to a doctor and insist on taking the kid away from the real care they need. I hear that and I immediately call security to detain them and CPS to report them for possible (Obvious) abuse. I saw the whole short and I get they are actually kidnappers.
