June 3, 2023; 2:24 p.m. GOSPEL: Mark 11:27-33 ECHO: "Neither will I tell you what authority I have to act as I do." REFLECTION: Sir, Oh my Lord, thank You I now realize what Life offers to Your people Oh God, You have taught me Questioned me, argued with me, Used me and destroyed me! However, You have awakened the sleeping red dragon. Back in childhood, I was not an A-1 child! I hardly remember getting high grades in any subjects at school. I was a slow learner. My Aunt Sally patiently taught me how to read the alphabet, but I was already seven years old when I learned how to read. I'm a self-taught person. I read billboards, placards, signs, and advertisements in conspicuous places. That's how I practice reading. The first self-taught poem I memorized was Helen Keller's Tree. I dream of having a simple family. I wanted to become a lawyer, but my heart desires first to be a mother. Yes, I wanted to become a homemaker. I want to serve my family just like my mother had taught us when my sister and I were kids - Love and Sacrifice, Amare et Servire. I dream of a handsome man, tall, fair-complexion, intelligent, with a good sense of humor, God-fearing, loving, sweet, etc. Admittedly, being gwapito is my first requirement. Shallow as I am. I get easily attracted to beautiful men. In the early 2000s, I met a handsome guy. He is an artist, and with everyday conversation, we have a lot of things in common. However, he is a cross persona of Don Quixote de la Mancha and Don Juan de Marco - a knight armored as a fool, a visionary, a wanderer, and a "lover"! Honestly, he could have been passed as my first boyfriend if I was dumb enough to sacrifice my values in exchange for having a boyfriend. However, the biggest no-no was his faith. He is not a Catholic. Consequently, I cannot sacrifice my faith in exchange for a possible relationship with a boy. Fast forward to the present, my depression led me to life experiences that made me a better person than I could ever imagine. One gloomy night in December 2022, I found myself walking the path at the Holy Spirit Parish, located at the very core of Alido Subdivision. Honestly, I don't attend and hear mass at our subdivision because I stay away from gossipers (mga Marites at Marisol na mga taong simbahan). However, my heart tells me to go to the Adoration Chapel. I didn't know the Adoration Chapel at our Parish. And so, the rest was history to tell. Many witnessed the unintentional "scene" I made inside the church. I remember I walked straight in front of the Adoration Chapel, knelt, and raised my hand while saying Halleluiah, and I passed out. The last thing I could remember, I handed over my medieval cross to a parishioner with instructions to turn over the cross to a priest because the cross shall reveal everything about my identity as a person and my ancestors. Since then, I have become closer to God with my daily attendance at the Holy Spirit Parish to hear mass and do volunteer work to experience spiritual maturity. My greatest revelation through this experience has given me a chance to reconcile with the hurts of my past and the wisdom to realize that love is more than just meeting the person's eyes but seeing the person's soul. Now, I am still in search of the One. At 48, God diverted my sight from the structure of a cathedral because God is good that He welcomed me to enter the Basilica of His heart. God give me the wisdom to seek a life partner, not a husband; a man to love me, and not a boy to be loved; a person who values me, and not a person who takes me for granted; someone who respects and knows my worth as a woman, and not someone who sees that I am just a woman; somebody who is proud of me that I am his achievement and not someone who hides me and carries me only like a trophy; a gentleman who shall marry me to be his world, and not a fool who shall offer me the comfort of his bed to be his house; a scholar who shall share me his knowledge, and not a professor who boasts his academic degrees and diploma; a student who is eager to learn from me, and not a teacher who lectures me; a child who is in quest of the truth; and not a researcher who gathers facts but lacks the understanding about the truth; my person is a saint with a past and a sinner who has a future and not a preacher who remains to be at present; he is a modern day prophet who evangelizes the truth about Mary and Jesus, and not a conventional righteous priest who refuse to spread the truth about Mary to protect their ego and its church; and most of all he is a Servant of God; and not a follower of Christ. Yes, at 48, I declare I am unconditionally in love with the Man of my dreams. His humbleness is like a shadow that follows my trail. His Word is like an arrow that pierces straight to my core. His wisdom gives enlightenment and not confusion. Finally, He and I sing the Psalms of King Solomon on the same page of His Love. Lord, thank You for the spiritual understanding and discernment You gave me during my struggle with mental disability. True enough, the path toward You is steep and narrow to traverse, but in those 12 years, I experienced You. You are the Leonardo Da Vinci who painted the kaleidoscopic Virgin of Rocks, a masterpiece worthy enough to be told in the Louvre Museum in Paris and be portrayed in the Broadway Musical in New York.
