Enroll 4 months before you are 65. Problem solved.
@BoomerBenefits Жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, the time you can apply for Medicare is during your Initial Enrollment Period, which begins 3 months before your 65th birthday month and ends 3 months after your birthday. But, there are many seniors out there that do not know this and think they can enroll in Medicare at any time they want!

Clarify: a spouse without the required 10 years/40 quarters work history can qualify for free part A based on their long-time spouse's work record, correct?
@BoomerBenefits2 жыл бұрын
If you have been married for at least 1 year and your spouse is eligible for Social Security, then you can qualify for a $0 premium for Part A if your spouse has 40 working quarters. Learn more here: boomerbenefits.com/can-i-get-medicare-through-my-spouse/

I am 68 yrs old and retired. My wife is 61 and still working. I have health insurance through my wife. My question is, when my wife retires five years from now, will I get penalized when I enroll in Medicare part B. Thanks
@BoomerBenefits3 жыл бұрын
If you continue to have insurance past 65 from an employer that has 20 or more employees and your spouse actively works for that employer, then you can delay all of Medicare until you retire without having to pay the penalty. Once she retires or loses active employer coverage, you will have an 8-month Special Enrollment Period to enroll in Part B and a 2-month SEP to enroll in Medicare Part D without a late enrollment penalty. Check out our video, Medicare & Employer Coverage | Should You Enroll In Part B?

when turning 65, if I enroll in Medicare Part A, B, D and get a less expensive supplement plan, like K, is there a penalty in later years if i want to switch to Plan G for more coverage? thank you
@BoomerBenefits4 жыл бұрын
There are never any financial penalties for Medigap plans. You may, however, have to answer health questions to switch plans and could be denied due to pre-existing conditions.

US citizen receiving SS benefits will be 65 this year residing permanently in Japan with universal health insurance do I need to enroll in Medicare part A and B Thanks
@BoomerBenefits3 жыл бұрын
You may be auto enrolled in Part A and Part B since you're receiving SS benefits. However, we aren't sure if they make exceptions for people permanently living out of the country. We suggest calling a Social Security office to discuss this with them as we never handle Part A and part B enrollment.

My mother is 72 and still working. She has insurance through her job but she collects social security. She plans on fully retiring this year and has never dealt with medicare. Will this affect her social security check and benefits when she applies? Will she be penalized? She also has moderate to severe renal failure.
@BoomerBenefits Жыл бұрын
Hi there, she can draw Social Security and still work. But, her income cannot be over a certain limit. We recommend contacting Social Security directly for more information on this!

In the example given at 4 minutes, you start losing money when you turn 78 years old. Be aware that that statement is not adjusted for anything like price increases or inflation.

I am 65 and still working. I am still covered under my employer group plan. I am enrolled in part A. Will I incure a penalty for not signing up for part B or D?
@BoomerBenefits4 жыл бұрын
If the employer has 20+ employees, and you maintain their insurance the whole time you don't have Part B or Part D, then you shouldn't owe a late penalty. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppSYY4SbmbR8g7s

What Happens If I Am Enrolled In Veterans Health care ? That Is Free To Me Except For Very Small Co-payments, Much Smaller Co-payments Than Medicare Prescription Co-payments And Smaller than Other Co-payments to see Doctors and or Specialists? I Still have a couple years to go before 65 but SS already took 25% of My SS Payment cause I Worked some years in State Service /Nevada.That was a Chunk And I Do Not Relish 144.00 More Being Taken Out While The VA Healthcare Serves As My Provider for Prescriptions ,Doctors,Specialist,Hospital stays Already. Any Advice or recommendations would e most appreciated.

Can SSA impose an over 100% penalty upon a person for flat out refusal to have Medicare thrust upon them? I will never accept and have the form already to indefinitely suspend any Social Security benefits. Yes that form exists.
@BoomerBenefits Жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, you will only receive a late enrollment penalty once you enroll in Medicare. If you never enroll in Medicare, you will never be charged the late enrollment penalty.
