I know antagonising some people is the aim of many auditors, however I admire each of them having the patience to repeat the rules. My recordings would be so boring that I would need to print out and laminate the CAA and government rules to hand out to save my blood pressure. I wouldn’t be a success or in the money though LOL.

One of the issues often seems to be that they dont want their building doing, but they then say why dont you go and do other buildings. It seems more of a reaction to their own stuff, than an understanding of the law. Often human nature, i suppose. I would expect any business to only react like this once, and then the lesson should have been learnt for the next time. Some laws are not known by a lot of people, but once those laws are proven to be true, and people then know them, then they should react accordingly. If they dont, then that is a further problem. Having said that, i still believe that businesses are doing the right thing in challenging anything untoward, strange behaviour etc, as it is again human nature, and also their business and safety to protect. It would be perhaps careless of them not to.

GDPR ... Being " a member of the public " is unfortunately not a recognised exemption from GDPR. If your pictures / footage are only ever going to be used for private, domestic purposes then no specific exemption from GDPR needs to be stated but when it comes to PUBLISHING potential personally identifying data, GDPR and the Data Protection Act apply ... UNLESS ... you fit the criteria to be able to claim an Exemption. There are proscribed exemptions to GDPR and the most appropriate one for "Auditors / Social Media Bloggers / Vloggers" to claim (where applicable) is the exemption for "Journalism, academia, art and literature" ... The big question which would determine whether this exemption would apply or not would of course be > Who can call themselves a Journalist and what kind of material would and wouldn't be considered worthy of publication in the public interest !? This exemption can apply if you process personal data for: journalistic purposes; academic purposes; artistic purposes; or literary purposes. Together, these are known as the ‘special purposes’. Silly girl - It's our building and we don't allow you to film. Well my dear it probably is your building, however the airspace above the building is not your property so just go away and perhaps read up on the laws of the land and learn. How many robbery suspects have they met and are able to identify a robber - they should apply to join the police if they can identify a robber who is outside filming in full view. Just more people making themselves look super foolish objecting to something that causes no problems or inconvenience.
