either way this is a farming/building xiao video!! - it all goes VERY downhill but it's okay, gives us something to work on in the future!

Imagine if people ignored Itto's normal attack and just focused on his burst. It's the same with Xiao - their bursts only convert normal attack damage into elemental damage.

You do have to lvl the basic attack since his burst relies on plunging damage, his e you can ignore, it does good dmg but if you just planning on having burst only his e is nothing but particle battery. Anyways nice vid! Have fun with Xiao, exploration is fun with him, hoyo just really love their anemo units

Happy Birthday! Xiaos damage in ult does actually mostly scale with his normal attacks so leveling them is a bit more efficient than burst! just fyi :)

They scale multiplicatively, so if you’re going for the ‘purely optimal’ method you’ll want to level them at the same time. I don’t have the numbers with me right now, but I can try to figure out the optimal order

as i think others have said, the normals are super important because the burst works like this: it increases the damage done by normal/charged/plunging attacks, converts all his attacks to anemo dmg until he leaves the field or the burst expires, and increases xiao's jump height because he has insane plunging attack multipliers, meaning they're his best dmg source, especially during burst

here is a tip: when you jump let him get to the highest point then plunge, it will do more dmg than low plunges (idk if is more dmg dps wise but big number go boom boom)

You don't need to go all the way to the highest point for a high plunge actually, if you have the timing down you can do it from a lot lower than that

it is more dps in most situations since it's a lot more damage and the difference of time between the two is quite minimal. though i think low plunges could be better in single-target situations?

As a Xiao main, high plunge is better due to more damage and you can kinda double-bonk them if you hit their heads (this includes very big monsters like ruin guards, hence why a really high plunge is gonna be good on them). But no, you don't have to go all the way up to get a technical high plunge. Takes practice. Also, weave in a normal attack when you hit the ground for bonus damage, it's basically free DPS and you can get it into muscle memory once you've done it enough.
