I wouldn't say I liked how this is animated so I left it in the drafts for a while but decided to post it now. LeopardFoot has a grip on my heart she didn't deserve the hand she was dealt

I'm glad people are acknowledging how bad Pinestar and Leopardfoot's relationship was, Pinestar wasn't just a warrior, or even just a leader, but a leader on one of his *last lives* before Leopardfoot was even born. And it's not only the age gap that makes it so bad, since Pinestar was her leader her whole life it created an inherent power imbalance. It would've been nice if the books acknowledged the creepiness too, but considering Spottedleaf's Heart maybe it's better that they didn't... anyway this looks lovely, your style is so unique!

@@crossfoxthecat I guess it sorta was? Pinestar’s relationship was written as if it was normal and healthy despite the huge age difference and power imbalance. at least Thistleclaw was made out to be a bad person in Spottedleaf’s Heart, though mostly for the wrong/irrelevant reasons

@@_kaleidoI’m pretty sure why it written that way is because they never checked or remembered the ages. Warrior has a weird problem of not remembering someone is related or older than each other

I agree their relationship was very gross because of the power imbalance and how Leopardfoot and him basically got together very soon after she was made a warrior, but it’s important to know that age gaps between CONSENTING ADULTS isn’t the problem!! Adults are able to consent to age gap relationships, and as long as the relationship has no predatory background, it’s okay!! This relationship is bad because of the power imbalance and how it’s implied Pinestar was waiting for her to be a warrior to get with her with how fast they got together. That’s like a 40 year old getting with someone as soon as they turn 18. That’s very predatory and gross. I just think this fandom has a weird thing about age gaps and even if it’s not a gross relationship they call it gross because of the age gap 😭 It’s so stigmatized for no reason. As long as the relationship is not predatory in nature it’s fine. Like Thornclaw and Blossomfall!! They have an age gap, but their relationship had nothing predatory about it. Blossomfall was well into adulthood when she got with him.

@@Stanky101 The age gap is not the problem. My father is roughly 15 years apart from his girlfriend. She was 10 when he was in his 20s. They did not know each other and only got together when she was like 25 and he was in his early 40s. Age gap relationships can be healthy. It depends on the context of the relationship. Leopardfoot and Pinestar are not unhealthy because they’re far apart in age; they’re unhealthy because of the power imbalance, and because Pinestar got with her soon after she became a warrior, implying he had feelings for her when she was an apprentice. That is predatory. Two consenting adults, ADULTS, can have a healthy age gap relationship. When you’re an adult, you’re old enough to know how to manage relationships. You can make sure your relationships are healthy. That includes age gap relationships. As long as all parties involved are consenting adults, it’s fine. You can be 30 years apart from someone, as long as you’re both adults and in a healthy relationship it’s fine. Leopardfoot and Pinestar are creepy not because of the age gap, but because it’s predatory in nature.

@@nathanielmandrake1500 Here’s the thing, he DOES know her and very much knew her as a minor. Clans are extremely tightly knit with them sharing dens all in the same camp. This age gap isn’t healthy at all. And he was LEADER when she was a kit, apprentice AND a warrior. It’s impossible that he DIDNT know her as a child. Not to mention he was on!! HIS LAST LIFE!! this isn’t a twenty three year old dating like, a thirty year old. This is a SUPER old cat, dating the warriors equivalent of a teenager. She was GROOMED. It’s so much more different then your parents relationship where two adults. Please understand that.

@@Stanky101 Leopardfoot and Pinestar is UNHEALTHY but not because of the age gap. It’s unhealthy because she was groomed, he got with her right as she became a warrior which is the equivalent of an older person getting with a 18 year old and justifying it with “that’s an adult.” If Leopardfoot had been, say, 6 years old (5 years into being a warrior; most cats become a warrior at a year old), it would be closer to say, a 27 year old and a 50 year old getting together. A little weird, but not predatory. It’s also implied Pinestar had feelings for her when she was an apprentice. Very gross! I’ll use an example: Blossomfall and Thornclaw are in a healthy age gap relationship. Thornclaw was not Blossomfall’s mentor, and had little to no meaningful relationship aside from being a Clanmate to her as she was growing up. They only got together when Blossomfall was well into being an adult; old enough she wanted to start a family and have kits. As long as the feelings did not exist when one of the characters involved was a minor, and the feelings only popped up when both characters are ADULTS, age gap relationships can be happy and okay! Yes, even big ones! The context of the relationship matters. Leopardfoot and Pinestar are unhealthy. It is a predatory relationship. Not because of the age gap, but because of the predatory nature of Pinestar’s actions.

feels like ferncloud (straight back into the nursery when she's an adult) but worse. her mate was literally a leader when her mother was born and her only living kit became a cat who nearly destroyed the forest. I hope she found happiness in starclan bro 💔😭

Honestly, I like to imagine that bc of Leopardfoot’s past that if Tigerclaw ever found out about what Thistleclaw did to Spottedpaw, he’d have been on the RiverClan patrol just to kill him😅

Honestly though, a cool AU idea. Tigerclaw, not Riverclan, murdered Thistleclaw. He sees it as killing two birds with one stone. Unnecessary battles with Riverclan whittles away at Bluestar's remaining lives and he has the trigger event to cover up killing Redtail. He also witnessed him grooming her, so in a sense he'd get his own revenge. I might make an amv out of this lmao

Goldenflower and Tigerclaw ? I remember there being a scene where Tigerkit was following Golden’s littermate Lionpaw around. He was a kit while they were apprentices. So the gap would still be a little bit iffy, but still way smaller than, say, Ashfur/Brambleclaw & Squirrelflight, or even Ivypool and Fernsong. It’s more comparable to the one between Moonflower and Stormtail, I think (though that one’s obviously not good either). In spite of that though I do think it’s pretty clear that Goldenflower had no power over Tiger lol. If she did, things wouldn’t have gone like they did.

Let's also talk about Squilf and Ashfur. Along with the many, MANY problems that relationship has, there's also the weird, kind of creepy creepy age gap. Ashfur was born in THE VERY FIRST BOOK. Firestar was literally just a little guy. And when was Squilf born? Oh, that's right. In Firestar's fucking quest. *2 years and 75 months after.* I've done the math. But there's another thing. Shrewpaw. SquirrelFlight's apprentice friend, the one that 90% of the fandom agreed she should've ended up with. Well, here's this little nugget for thought. SHREWPAW WAS ASHFUR'S NEPHEW. Ferncloud was his MOTHER. Ashfur was grown enough to have his own kids, but nooo. Ashfur literally WITNESSED SquirrelFlight grow up. But eh. I haven't seen much people talk about it, so I guess it's just me who's malding about this.

@@SproutiusShrubiusthe16th I don’t think you understand age gaps. Age gaps between consenting adults are fine because adults can consent to that. As long as it wasn’t predatory in nature, it’s fine. The problem is Ashfur is a creep who tried to murder her and her adopted kids, not the age gap lol. They were not shown as close when Squirrelflight was a ‘paw. He showed no romantic interest in her then. He only showed romantic interest in her when she was a warrior, and well into it too! Age gaps are so stigmatized in this community and it gives me a headache. Adults can make that decision. As long as it’s not predatory and feelings only happened when both were well into adulthood, it’s fine. Leopardfoot and Pinestar are only creepy because of the power dynamic and him getting with her right as she became a warrior basically, which implies he had a crush on her when she was still an apprentice.

Like, I’m 20. When I’m 25-30, if I want to get with someone who’s 50 for some reason, that’s fine. I’d be a grown adult who can make my own decisions and know how to have a healthy relationship, lol. It may be weird to some people, but it’s two consenting adults.

I think Warrior cats have much more big age gap couples that people forgot because they are side couple. Sorreltail and Brackenfur for example. If I'm not mistaken, Sorrelkit was the one who got deathberry poisoning, and Brackenfur is already a warrior at that time. But i guess they have a healthy relationship so I personally is fine w that since both of them got pretty good development and the older cat here isnt predatory/manipulative/etc. My guess is that Authors just forgot how old everyone is, so sometimes they just go Warrior=Adult without remembering when they graduate as a warrior.

SorrelBracken isn’t as bad because she was already a warrior once he started showing interest, AND Brackenfur wasn’t even warrior aged when he got his name. He got named early for reasons I cannot remember for the life of me

It’s for a lot of the age gap relationships in Warriors with how most of them were shown in a bad light or atleast wasn’t even positive. (Ex. Moonflower and Stormtail, Dappletail and Stormtail, Leopardfoot and Pinestar, Spottedleaf and Thistleclaw, and so many more 😭

Idk why the authors wanted Stormtail to be so… gross. Like. They make him repulsive across MULTIPLE books, and in the book he is *deliberately* painted as horrible in by the narrative, they also try to redeem him for one line? And it’s not even a good one, it’s him literally defending his daughter in front of his other’s daughter corpse because her widower husband is about to attack her. (And of course the second a male warrior said it it was seen as calm and rational to back down, but that’s besides the point)

tbh warriors has this problem where they try to juggle realism and anthropomorphism but they don't do a good job at it. realistically things like age gaps, incest, etc. wouldn't matter in a real life feral colony of cats as they don't care they just mate with whoever, however the cats in the books are pretty humanized as they have human level intelligence and emotions, have their own religion and morals based on humans which doesn't work with also trying to make the cats realistic, you can't have both. i feel like they were going with a more realistic setting in the first few books which is why there's a lot of incest, toms fathering litters of kits with different she-cats which seemed normal/common, cats dying earlier and seen as senior warriors at just four - five years old and retiring early, etc. however now in the recent books it seems like they've gone more for a fantasy/unrealistic vibe now
