Hi Davud, they are ethnic people. I am from an ethnic group from Bangladesh myself. I am part of the Chakma ethnic people and we do have similarities from people like Thailand. You’ll meet more ethnic people from Chittagong Hill Tracts like Rangamati (my hometown). I think you will need permit to visit there but I highly recommend you to visit if you have the time. I am studying in Australia now and I do miss the place haha. Anyway, enjoy your stay in Bangladesh ❤️

In india also you have Bengali, Gujrati, etc. so so many but they are all indian. Bangladeshi.

They are marma(burmese) people ,ethnic group of bangladesh. Majority of them lives in Rakhine state of Mayanmar.primarily residing in the Bandarban, Khagrachari and Rangamati Hill Districts. Some Marmas live in Bangladesh's coastal districts of Cox's Bazar and Patuakhali, while others live in Tripura, India and Myanmar. There are over 210,000 Marmas living in Bangladesh. Since the 16th century, the Marma have considered the Bengal's Chittagong Hill Tracts their home, where they have established the Bohmong and Mong Circles (chiefdoms).

There are several types of tribes in Bangladesh such as Chakma, Marma, Shawtal etc. They look like the people of China. But they are all Bangladeshis but they have their own language and culture. The people you saw in that area would also be one of these tribes. Moreover, we people of Bengal are hybrid race. So here you will see different types of people. But a special thing is that Cox's Bazar area is home to Myanmar infiltrators, they also look Chinese.

Hi Davud, hope you are enjoying your Bangla trip. The people you have been interacting in Chittagong - many have their origin from Myanmar / earlier called Burma (these people migrated from West Myanmar - Rakhine state or Arakan to East Bengal or Bangladesh) Before 1947, all this was a part of India and Bangladesh was called EAST BENGAL province of India. However with independence of India in 1947 from British, EAST BENGAL joined the country of Pakistan and became EAST PAKISTAN. Since 1971, it became Bangladesh. So it has a long history. I suggest you should visit Teknaf and the border area of Myanmar which is around 100 kilometers from Cox's Bazar. You can cross over to Burma/Myanmar also if you have a visa. People there have all similar eyes and Chinese facial features like the ones you met in this video. Happy touring.

@@swagotoroy652 You are seeing things through the lens of India, probably because you are Indian? It's not like India at all. Most of the Chakma people are integrated into Bangladeshi society unlike other tribal groups, they are more liberal. You will find lots of Chakma people in Dhaka too. Moreover, it's literally in the wiki that many Chakma people live in the southeastern part of BD. Bd has more Chakma people than India or Myanmar so, I guess you get the idea. Of course, you have made major mistakes in explaining history to simplify it. Look for a comment below from a Bangladeshi Chakma, they resonate mostly with Thai people. On the other hand, there was no India before 1947, but only British India. They are not same at all, you know that, right? Historical data suggests most of the northeastern parts of India, like you mentioned, were not part of post-1947 independent India. As far as I remember, they were made part of India one by one later in the 1970s. Saying all this was part of India it's like saying the northeast of modern India was part of Bengal. You are also maybe confusing Rakhine Rohingya with ethnic tribal people.
@swagotoroy652
@swagotoroy652 Жыл бұрын
@@hatanokiripres Yes, Chakmas were originally Burmese as I learn on wiki (they are originally from Arakan region and called as Saks.) In the 17th century thet inhabited the area around Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bengal. Also let me correct you as "British India" was actually known by the political name of India (Indies in Latin) or Hindustan. There were 17 provinces in all in 1947 including East Bengal. By Northeastern parts, I dont know which exact states/regions you are talking about. Hope this clarifies.

I see You didn't have basic knowledge about Bangladesh. Bengalis are the third-largest ethnic group in the world, after the Han Chinese and Arabs. Thus, they are the largest ethnic group among Indo-Europeans and the largest ethnic group in South Asia. Apart from Bangladesh and the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, Manipur, and Assam's Barak Valley, Bengali-majority populations also reside in India's union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with significant populations in the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Uttarakhand as well as Nepal's Province No. 1 The global Bengali diaspora (Bangladeshi Bengalis and Indian Bengalis) has well-established communities in the Middle East, Pakistan, Myanmar, the United Kingdom, the United States, Malaysia, Italy, Singapore, Maldives, Canada, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. Bengalis are a diverse group in terms of religious affiliations and practices. Today, approximately 67% are adherents of Islam with a large Hindu minority and sizable communities of Christians and Buddhists. Bengali Muslims, who live mainly in Bangladesh, primarily belong to the Sunni denomination. Bengali Hindus, who live primarily in West Bengal, Tripura, Assam's Barak Valley, Jharkhand, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, generally follow Shaktism or Vaishnavism, in addition to worshipping regional deities. There also exist small numbers of Bengali Christians, a large number of whom are descendants of Portuguese voyagers, as well as Bengali Buddhists, the bulk of whom belong to the Bengali-speaking Baruas in Chittagong and Rakhine (who should not be confused with other Buddhists of Bangladesh that belong to different ethnic groups). Like every large cultural group in history, Bengalis have greatly influenced and contributed to diverse fields, notably the arts and architecture, language, folklore, literature, politics, military, business, science, and technology.

You are a great photographer! You should take out more pictures as you capture the true people of the country. You captured some beautiful images of women for Women's International Day. You could publish a book of all the pictures of the people you incounted in your journey, because you capture the images of the real people of the land. You could also have an exhibition in a gallery of your work when you take a break from traveling. Sometimes people will pay you for your images, and it is another way to earn an income. A 100 years from now people will view those pictures to see how people lived during our time, just like we like to look at pictures of people from the 1900s. Keep up the good work!

Nice response. I think exactly like you. The reason for this, Davud's camera becomes "human" the emotion and logic of the images are transferred to us by an artist.

Hi my dad and relatives come from Dhaka and Chittagong and have these features. We are Buddhist with the surname Barua that originate from these areas. Baruas have these slight oriental features. So basically Bengali Buddhists. We are a minority in terms of being non Muslim but no we are not tribal lol. Chakmas are also Buddhist and have these features. I'm born and brought up in London so ppl get so confused with my ethnic background as I'm fairly light skinned too. And to those comments saying we are not Bengali...yes we are 💯 although I can't comment on Chakmas as I believe they might have Burmese roots and are tribal

There are many ethnicities in Bangladesh. Also not all Bengalis in Bangladesh look the same. Bengalis are a mixed race. But they were not Bengalis, probably of Chakma or Tripura race. People of this race are more in Chittagong division especially in Bandarban, Khagrachari, Rangamati districts.

Hi Davud, In Bangladesh the majority people are ethnic Bengali , however we have some ethnic minority as well in different part of Bangladesh. The highest number of different tribes ( 13) are in Bandarban District ( next to Coxs Bazar) .All tribes have their different mother tongue and own lifestyles. In the Coxs bazar the Minority people are Rakhine people. Same group of people can be found in Myanmar as well. You can check out the Burmese market in Coxs bazar , where most of the shop owners are Rakhine people.

I thought someone from Bangladesh told me that the people from Rakhine are actually from India and not from Bangladesh. And I noticed that the Rakhine people do not look so oriental, maybe I am wrong. Do they still have the refugee camps for them? Are they ever going to go back to Myanmar? I think they should go back and the international community like the UN should have soldiers there to protect them..But the leaders of Myanmar are very stubborn..

Chākmā oral history holds that the tribe migrated from Champaknagar to Arakan, the western hill region of Burma, where they lived for about 100 years. Around the 16th century, they moved northwards into Bangladesh and were granted permission by the ruling Nawab of Bengal to settle in the hill region of Chittagong.

Basically the soft roti is made up of all purpose flour and egg mix with watery consistency pour in non stick pan and make soft rotis... And in stuffing we add coconut, ghee, and sugar we cooked it until sugar melt and grated coconut become transparent.... At the end fill coconut stuffing in roti and make a roll and served it.... It's very delicious dish
