They are extremely smart! I just got a Maltese puppy and she's 10 weeks old now. She's already house broke and knows "sit" on command. She picks up on everything I teach her. I named her Pixie and I absolutely adore her. 😊

They totally deserve to be pampered :) I have a havanese and she is so the same :) My dog refuses to walk away from home so I have to carry her in the first half of the walk. Then when I put her down she walks back home :) She is the princess in this home!

OMG it's exactly like our Maltese girl who is 1.5 years old. She does the exact same thing when it comes to eating (sometimes ignores it all day - but loves our food) and the sudden loss of interest in walking event at the start of walks sometimes! :)

I'm starting to walk my puppy inside the house with a leash and he just lies down like "nope can't do" LOL and I don't know why. Even leaving the house I had to drag him a little bit to initiate the walk and then he goes out and walks. He doesn't want to go to an unfamiliar area. That was his first time walking outside our yard and it was fun. I am smiling watching your video because you are right about the uniqueness of this breed and the love they show us. June 22, 2022… a female Maltese named “Hollywood” just won the Toy Group at the 2023 Westminster Dog Show! I’m praying she wins Best In Show! Xanti is training you! For me to eat I need you to hand feed me with spoon, use spoon to give me water sips, carry me on walks even though I may not be tired yet, etc etc. But then isn’t this what Maltese were bred for, to be spoiled and cuddled receptacles of love. Enjoy every minute!

I have a malshi (Maltese Shitzu Mix) His name is Teddy and he is very stubborn, I have to hand feed him and even if I give in a snack I have to make him think it makes him speical, even though he already is, he also likes to lift his paw up on walks as his sign to be carried.

A very big Yes for my Maltese! My Maltese is so lazy we have to pick him up and put him on the chair. I have a pet door for my 2 dogs. The other one is a yorkie! She is very good when it comes to the bathroom. But my Maltese is too lazy to go out the pet door to use the bathroom so he uses the inside the house as his bathroom.

Awww lol I have a Maltipom the maltese x Pomeranian and she gets a lot of stuff off the maltese side she is so funny and very fussy with food she only likes certain pouches lol but will eat and drink from the bowl but if you put meat in the bowl she don’t like she won’t eat it all day basically letting u know she don’t like it and she very often rolls on her back for belly rubs 🥺and when she does which is every time u approach her 😅 she looks like a princess the way she has her paws 😂🥲😂🥰🥰🥰

Maltese dogs like to be spoiled. And they diserve it. My former Maltese likes all this too. Handfeeding and in the morning my Husband had to carry him around so he can look out of the Windows. I will miss him forever. It is always nice to see your dogs. Thank you for sharing❤❤❤

I love Xanti, i ended up getting a cavalier king charles spaniel and shihtzu mix. She is almost 6 months old and so smart. Very independent but loves pampering too. She makes us very happy. Only barks when wants your attention to play or to eat. 💖

My Maltese had a very regal but kind nature . He loved to be carried around, and sometimes he would not eat unless I hand fed him. He would rarely bark but howl if I left him in the house . He will always be my 4 legged son even though he passed last year.

This describes Miss Muffy to a tee. She will only eat soft canned food with lots of gravy and will only eat hard food if it's hand fed to her. Bedtime she gets her Kong and after she gets a drink of water out of her own glass. She has me well trained!

Das kenne ich gut, Malteser lassen sich gern verwöhnen. Mein Mädchen ist total wählerisch beim Fressen, bin froh um jeden Bissen den sie isst. Aber sie sind auch sehr selbstbewusst und setzen sich anderen Hunden gegenüber durch, natürlich liebevoll und nie aggressiv. Einen Malteser zu haben ist ein Glücksfall .

I agree. We who have them are the luckiest people. I just got my Cody 2 months ago. His Mommy died at age 94 and he needed a good home. He is 6. What a darling smart fun little angel he is. The sad thing is yesterday he had to have 6 teeth pulled bc she never took care of his teeth. I feel so bad for him now. But I’m taking beautiful care of him making sure he is comfortable. The cost of the vet hurt too but be is worth it. ❤️

My little girl will not jump to the front of the car or jump out of the car. I have to get out of the car, open her door and lift her out. I agree. They have a mind of their own most definitely. I thought my Chihuahua was smart. But my Cody is even smarter. He remembers where he saw a lizard a week ago. He can be a little stubborn when I walk him. He doesn’t want to walk where he doesn’t want to. I used to try and force him but I realized that’s just silly.
