You don't need a $30,000 studio to be a good musicproducer.
You might slowly build a great studio, as you become a good musicproducer.
There are so many people who write something like this under my videos every day.
It’s kinda strange, since - nobody would expect to suddenly win a marathon once they bought 1k USD running equipment. You win a marathon if you train for years - and in the meantime you buy better equipment.
And - to stay with the example.
Music is not a race. Making music is fun, that MAY lead to a career. That's why we started, isn't it?
Keep that in mind - that's more important than anything else. The rest may follow, it’s worth trying. 17 years ago I started a DAW for the first time, 10 years ago when i decided to aim for a career as a composer, my “studio” still looked like this:
Only 4 years ago, I made the transition to full-time composer:
In the 17 years I've analyzed hundreds of soundtracks, worked far more than those 10,000 hours with daws, built partnerships and "knowledge". It's all about this.
Everything has evolved slowly and naturally. Consistency is key. Gradually becoming familiar with the tools, virtual instruments, plugins is super valuable. And like I said, it's fun. I love to learn every day.
Look at it this way: any top notch composer with free tools-only would 10/10 outperform a beginner, even if the beginner was sitting in a 50k studio.
Summed up: Don't ruin your passion for music.
I write about such topics in my captions every day. Feel free to follow me if you are interested in insights into the life of a composer :)
Best regards,
Tobi
