Hi Chris, in days that every channel in KZbin just talk about the most powerfull new mirrorless in the world it is very important someone prove that the most important think is you get out and have fun with the gear that you have. And yes, it is possible take good photos no matter the gear. The photographic skills are much more important. I see that people give more importance to have the most expensive gear and always forgot to study and try to improve your skills. Thanks for show everyone what is possible to do with any gear. Currently I use a 7d mk ii and a Canon 2000D and I'm very happy with the photos I take. The most important think for me is get out and enjoy nature.

Great comment Tomaz are you’re right. It’s more important to go out and have fun than to own the latest and greatest. How do you find the 7DMKii? I have the 7D but keep thinking about switching to the MKii.

@@ChrisBaitsonPhoto was a big deal for me. On the occasion, I had just the 2000D and was saving money to buy a 90D for take better bird photography and was talked to a friend that switched to the Canon R6 and was selling the 7D mk ii. This was this year. Some friends asked me why I buyed a 7D mk ii in 2022, but for me it's the best camera I used. I don't want to move to the Canon mirrorless system because I have Sigma lens and seems that Canon just keep their own glass works fine regarding to autofocus in their mirrorless. Now I'm looking for a full frame DSLR for landscape photography.

I just bought the EOS400D and seems I paid double what I should've - but I'll use it to learn with and it's my first - "proper camera". I have a few "4K" action Cams that were cheap and cheerful that have never seen 4K but they're okay because it they do fall off the bike or the kayak, I won't be broken hearted as long as I get the footage. I did want one proper camera for the good shots and the thumbnails. I will find a dslr that gives me video as well and upgrade but keep the 400D anyway. I'm just getting into proper vlogging and want to grow my channel - good gear and how to use it goes halfway I reckon. Good instructional video with the comparisons. I think I'll try some moody shots on the moors and the in the Ribble Valley - where I am.

I guess in landscape photography at a low Iso, there will not be a huge difference but when you have to shoot a dark concert or a wedding, there will be a difference. The prize difference has a reason.
@ChrisBaitsonPhoto Жыл бұрын
Oh definitely. There’s not a hope in hells chance that 400D would do anything other than what I was doing with it. But for a bit of fun you can’t beat them.

I've still got my 400D (aka Rebel XTi) that I got back in the day. Then Rebel T7i, and R8. The 400D doesn't see much action these days, but the build quality is better than lits of today's mid level cameras. Stay inside its limitations and you can get great shots.

I love your video ... I bought a canon 400 D brand new in 2006 and it is still working fine quick snaps around the house brilliant . I have invested in a canon D7 mark 2 a few years ago and I use it for birds and sports photography and what a deference. I really like your channel cheers !!

Thank you Jake I appreciate your comment. I’ve only used the 400D a couple of times. Saw how cheap they are now and grabbed it a year back and honestly forgot I had it. Think I should make more videos around it? Seems a popular camera still.

Nice video, I think most of the basic or older DSLRs do a nice job on scenic shots, it's when (or if) you tackle more challenging areas of photography that the modern cameras really show their advantage, birds in flight, sports etc. All the best. MMMD
@ChrisBaitsonPhoto Жыл бұрын
Yeah I would agree with that. The older cameras work fine for what I do, but as soon as you start getting a little more technical they are going to show their age pretty quickly.

Great video again Chris 👏. I used to own a nikon d800. Full frame 36 megapixel and it did nothing for me. I think It comes down to why you do photography and what you want from it. I found it to big and cumbersome on the tripod and far to complicated for a few instagram photos. Opted for a new nikon z50 crop sensor and absolutely love going out with it. The advantage with moden gear is technology is advancing so quick.
@ChrisBaitsonPhoto Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Wayne. Mate of mine still swears his old D800 was the best thing to ever happen despite some of its draw backs. I’ve not really looked at the Nikon Z line up in all honesty. What do you like about the Z50?
@humbersnapshot-wayneknight8523 Жыл бұрын
Well for me, I found it pointless having a 50 Meg raw file to then reduce it to 1 Meg for instagram. Don't get me wrong, it felt and looked ace in your hand but was a big lump on a tripod. The z50 was a breath of fresh air. Its the modern technology for a start. The screen on the back is like your phone screen. It is small and light, which helps when you carry everything including a drone. The quality of the two crop sensor z lenses that where made for it are outstanding. All round am over the moon with me set up.

Thank you. I chose incorrectly in two out of three. I have a Nikon D3300 and, although my go to camera is a Sony RX 10 Mk 1, I am coming back to using the D3300 and appreciating it as a camera that can take fine photos. I have purchased a prime lens for it and am going to do some experimenting with that.

Great video. I use a Canon 30D, Canon 100D and Nikon D700. My favourite buy far is the D700 so easy to use and great image quality. The 100D is great as a lightweight travel camera for Street Photography especially with the 24mm ef-s lens. The 30D it's so cheap it's not worth selling on, I bought it for £24 great fun.

I have a Canon 450D and 40D that I never got rid of when I moved to Mirrorless because they have slight faults that made them not worth selling,I still use them on a fairly regular basis when the light is good and get superb results at anything up to 800 ISO,of course as software is so much better now if shot in Raw the results can match many more modern cameras

I bought my first Hasselblad 500 CM in 1981. My brother and I were just beginning to start a side business in portrait photography. I also had a Nikon FE, and FM at the time. My close friend had bought a Canon A1 with full compliment of lenses. When he looked at my set up, he commented how simp!e and basic the tech was compared to his A1. I told him that we paid an arm, a leg and a few fingers For the Hasselblad because it had to be reliable to the extreme. That was then the definition of pro gear. Well designed, rugged, functional and with great support. Yes his mostly plastic A1 was years ahead of my FE, FM and the 500 CM. These days it is all different, sadly.

With modern software these old cameras can do wonders. Lightroom Classic Denosie AI is absolutely mind blowing, allowing you to basically shoot ISO1600 and not worry at all about noise and loss of details. These 10MP RAWS are absolutely mind blowing with the right lens, lightning conditions and modern software.

I made not need the PRO body for a bump in age quality - but I do need durable and dependable weather-sealing against rain, saltwater spray, wind blown sand and fish slime. So for this one criteria means even most middle range bodies and lenses from C,N and S are exempt. I had wasted 7 compacts and a Pentax K7 & WR lens to water damage. Not lost any lens or camera body in last 10 years since changing to Olympus 4/3 DSLRs and then M43.

I have a Nikon D610 and a D200, although the 610 outguns the 200 in just about every way, you guessed it, I nearly always take the D200, it’s strange how a camera that has ‘less’ makes you want to use it more 🤔

That’s brilliant and is similar to how my EOS RP ended up being my video camera I pushed me back to DSLRs. I think more doesn’t always mean better. And sometimes a more simple camera that “just takes photos” is more fun to use.

I have the 10-18mm It's excellent VFM . I use it alot along with 18-55, 18-135 ... all are great for what i use them for ie Sun captures and scenery . I've never bought a 1,000 plus lense because i simply can't justify the price. Though i'd love to be able to own a EF 600 but at 13,000 If i could i'buy a Camper van instead ...then i could venture further afield instead relying on Trains . Canon's pricing policy is erratic I can't fathom why a 5D mrk 2 Is still commanding a £2,500 price tag brand new . Especially with Canons push into the Mirrorless market
@ChrisBaitsonPhoto Жыл бұрын
I presume you mean the 5D4? And yes at £2500 new it’s ridiculous but I think the camera rose to popularity through KZbin. Canon are clearly just riding the wave still and if people are willing to buy… they’ll keep the price.
