I agree a lil bit with you that FJR 1300 is a beast o rode one at a test ride for yamaha 2018 omg but the seat inder ne got really hot during the ride we were the last ones that day to ride so he took us on a long ride and the seat after 10 minute got super hot. And check this out sir nobody rode that bike that day but earlier that morning it had been sitting all day. I rode at about 4:30pm the bike didnt move after 9am.

I rode the 2018 matt blue at the Yamaha test ride in Motorcy le Mall. Iam telling you that bike is fast and comfortable a lot of cargo space. The only thing is that we had the last ride we rode for a long time that fjr 1300 gets hot under that seat. It gets about 380 mile to the tank under reasonable conditions other than that it's a beast sport tourer.

All I can say Nutn is FINALLY we get the review of the top dog of all motorcycles!!! You only showed/teased a very brief, and I mean brief photo of your red 14 a LONG TIME AGO...and to the best of my knowledge, haven't mentioned it since - WTH was with that!?!? When I saw the video where you showed the red 14, I was totally looking forward to a fun review vid!!! Anywho, as they say, you can't make this stuff up. After selling my 4th, yes 4th ZX-14R, and LITERALLY just receiving my check YESTERDAY from the dealership where I sold it on consignment...you post your review video!!! Good god, the timing!!! 😜 I am now "very unfortunately" done riding motorcycles permanently as I can simply no longer justify the risk vs. reward equation. So it is with a heavy heart and a bittersweet laugh, I am about to watch your review of my beloved, top choice of all motorcycles...the KAWY ZX-14R!!! Thank you for all of the moto vids that you have done over the past several years - with Tactical D, Last Suspect, Bugget, Mrs. Nutn, Matt, and all of your other friends, they've always been a lot of fun to watch! 👍

I've had both, and the Hayabusa was just a bit more comfortable for me, I'm riding the 14R now, and I'd pick it over the busa by just a hair if I had to pick again. It does a few thing just a little bit better, and when you open it up it roars just a tick more. I rode about 300 miles today on my 14R and I don't feel like I've done more than run around town a bit. It's seriously a pretty well rounded Superbike that can tour with a bit of adaptation.

If I were cross shopping these two the deciding factor for me would be; I think the zx-14r looks really good, and the hayabusa looks like dog poop. Totally subjective. The intent of these bikes is definitely more interceptor than fighter. What I mean by that is in combat jets fighters are designed for dog fighting. That is, close in, tight turning fights, which mandate maneuverability. Interceptors are all about big engines, and covering long distances really fast. They're typically designed around the engines, have smaller wings, don't turn as well, but man can they move. That's what I think of when I look at these bikes, and I think fighter jet when I see 600 or 1000 superbikes.

Very fair and realistic normal man video. I own a Ducati 1299, but am gonna keep it and buy a ZX14. You are exactly right. I used to own a 2008 ZX14 with a Yoshi pipe and power commander. It was super smooth, plenty of usable power, and very good wind protection. I am 6ft1in 285 lbs. I bought a Ducati and it is insane. Makes the ZX14 stock go to shame in every area. I got in so many high speed chases and hit every corner and it sticks like velcro. The bad about Ducati...I will be dead very soon, so I only keep it as a track bike and there is zero wind protection for the Ducati and super uncomfortable. I want a ZX14 because it is super comfy, fast, will not corner as well, but is great for driving around. I kind of regret buying the Ducati, but i got money so whatever. The Ducati is a wicked bike and nothing compares, I test drove them all before buying. ZX14 is more of what I want as a daily driver. It's an awesome bike and my 4ft10in wife can sit on the back of it.

Awesome thorough review.... but.. I have to chime in on what you said about suspension... and this is coming from years of experience and owning several motorcycles... if you do nothing to your suspension settings then at the very least! You should be setting your sag for proper rider weight! Compression and rebound are personal preference but proper suspension sag (spring rate) is probably the single most important setting on any motorcycle. It has the greatest effect on the ride/feel and performance of the motorcycle. Without proper sag your motorcycles suspension is NOT performing the way it should be. There are several videos on how to do this but a general setting is 20mm of bike sag and 30mm of rider sag 15-30mm for rear (with all gear and passengers). Set your spring rate!!!

For real there are some fantastic deals out there to be had borne of tired wives and underused bikes. I got my 1190 with like, 400 miles on it and every freakin' pricey mod that touratech had in the catalog. Turns out some dentist grabbed everything that caught his eye, rode it home, and the wife told him she wanted the two seats to be side by side so he took a hit and traded it in after trying to sell it out of the garage for a year. Turns out the little interliner bags are great for hauling groceries, but not $100 good! IIRC NF got his hayabusa for a steal back in the day, too. It was new but had been sitting for a bit and their inventory was coming up on taxable time. -Doodle

@@nutnfancy Yeah.. That's the key: is to have your money ready to strike so you can grab those deals when they pop up. because they don't last long... It's becoming quite a nice bike collection. Definitely my taste.. I had a cbr900 Honda that had all the plastics stripped off of it and had been sitting in some back yard, against the house- with the rain falling off the roof onto the bike for a few years.... All I did was drain the tank and pour in some new gas.... and give the battery a jump.... It started right up and ran like a champ. again it was stripped of plastics and didn't even have the gauge cluster or headlight.. So I threw on one of those $15 aftermarket 'dirtbike headlights that straps onto the forks with rubber staps.... I bought that bike for only $400.. haha.. I drove it just like it was for several years.. and still sold it for like triple what I paid for it.... If you google "99 cbr900 naked" you can see, its not bad looking naked like that, and it actually a popular thing that people do I guess.

The ZX14R is a great motorcycle, my only issue is I don’t like the instrument panel. when you’re riding at high speeds and you’re looking down to see how quick you’re going. I don’t like to do a triple look would’ve been way better if it had a digital dash for the speed at least as far as weight goes put a 4 into one titanium or SS exhaust on it and put a lithium ion battery in. Just just knocked off almost 50 pounds and that’s a beautiful thing, if your money bags are still full, you get carbon fibre rims and knock off another 40 pounds and have under 500 pound motorcycle. Did you notice how heavy the seat is… bet an aluminum or carbon fibre seat base would save even more weight. As far as comfort goes, I wish the bars were a little bit higher up. I’m 511 and leaning over eventually, my wrist to get tired after a while. I could ride with one hand and sit straight up in other words another inch and a half would’ve been perfect. I wish they had some sort of an adaptor where you could do that. All in all I can’t wait to see the 2025 ZX 14 or there’s a bunch of teaser videos on KZbin but nobody’s got the actual bike to show.
@touristguy8721 күн бұрын
gotta be the dumbest review ever. If you focus on "fast", as opposed to the length and riding position, fuel economy, weight, gearing and just generally intelligent concerns, then the 14R is nice, but there's still all that other stuff. It's like riding a Jet-Ski with wheels. Because it uses the same engine as the Kawasaki Jet Ski. It's a big long bike with a good riding position for touring but the handling is so slow as to change it into Busa type machine without the Busa riding position. A few trips up the gearbox and that's pretty-much all the fun to this bike. It's just too smooth and handles too slow. You want a bike that is faster, handles better and is lighter to boot? Try the S1000R. That is a motorcycle not a road-sled. The 14R is really for two people plus gear. I'd take the S1000R over the 14R any day of the week. And I'm a former ZX-12R owner. The 12R is sort of in the middle of the two bikes, still long, not so much power but still a good amount of power, handles ok but it's still longish and slow-handling. Looks absolutely fantastic in my opinion. But the "look" stuff wears off with every mile. At some point you just start to care a lot more about how it rides than how it looks. Get a picture of the 14R and try the S1000R It is so bloody fucking quick, the difference between the two bikes is night and day. But sure probably the 14r can do 80 without breaking a sweat. For the roads that youa re riding on here, the S1000R is a better bike. It can go fast on the highway but probably can't match the 14 torque level. But it is a much lighter and more nimble bike, yet still very comfortable. And at a certain point you really get tired of having to horse a big bike around. Not to mention lean at a 90 deg angle over the tank. The slight discomfort you feel after the first 10 miles? Magnify that by 100 over a days' worth of riding. So I can think of a few other bikes with less power and torque that are more fun and less of a headache to ride. But the S1000R is the best in my opinion. And it will be more than fast enough unless you load it down with 300 lbs of crap. And in that case, why ride a bike in the first place. Racing around on a motorcycle on cold wet narrow roads with blind spots behind trees and around corners is not my idea of a wise thing to do. I wouldn't ride like that up in the woods, you're just asking to hit a deer. I've almost hit a deer once and I did actually hit a deer again, knowing that they were there and what they would do when I tried to pass them, slowed down almost to a crawl and literally one of them leapt on the hood of my car, hit the windshield, trying to follow its friends across the road and down a trail. Deer are effing stupid and will kill you in seconds. And the big ones just do not care what you are doing. The older they get the slower they move. So you can startle a young one out of the bushes next to the road and it'll knock you off your bike, or an older one that'll just stand there and make you drive around it. Everything on a motorcycle is fun and games until you slide off the road or hit a deer. When you realize that you won't ride so fast unless the road visibility is so good that you don't worry about hitting a deer. I've never hit a deer while riding a bike. I've seen some videos of riders who have. Not the only animal which tends to hang out near roads in the middle of nowhere. I've passed some elk too. In low light it's best to stick to roads with a decent amount of traffic as the deer will get used to that and stay off the roads. They love quiet roads with no traffic. You're not moving a Busa or a ZX-14R out of the way of a deer that you see at the last second at 75 mph on some narrow back-country road. Just too big, too much inertia. Speed is the last thing that you want in such a situation. Power does nothing for you when you can't use it. And it's more fun to accelerate well from a low speed than to blast down the road at 85 mph or faster. That's just rolling the dice with your life. The whole part about it getting stolen, that's another juicy fact of motorcycle life. Or just knocked-over, or someone playing on or near it. Funny how that tends to happen ore with bikes than cars, because people tend not to respect bikes or the riders. Because they're an anomaly. And other things. Now what do you do when it starts to rain, or you see patches of snow and ice on the ground. I've ridden the Honda V4 down in Knoxville TN traffic, it's very quick also but still a bit too much bendy-flexy in the middle for me. But more along the lines of the S1000R than the 14R. A decent "gentlemans' bike". There are a lot of good midsize to literbike and Busa sized bikes. But as I got older I found that I craved 4 wheels, a roof and a windscreen more than I wanted twice the power/weight ratio for a quick squirt on an off-ramp or a section of hilly mountain highway. Where road-engineers test new road materials and grooving in the middle of high-speed wet turns. Then there's the limited tank size and range with 30mpg and a 5 gallon tank. You're stopping every 150 miles, like it or not. So much bike, so many issues. Or you could get a ZX-6R which is adequately fast and comfortable and definitely nimble and costs somewhat less than a 14R, or even a ZX-3 which will give you 60mpg for a quarter of the price. Yes it is slow for a bike, but as it's proponents say, it's still faster than most cars. Well, many cars. But at 85mph a bike is usually not as comfortable as a car. The point is, on a motorcycle, more speed often does not equal more fun. It often just means "more scared and uncomfortable". You should really try to find something that you enjoy about riding other than just "going fast". That's when you need to ride so fast that you're shortening your own life-expectancy. Enjoy your two bikes that I would not want to own and ride even if I had one which unfortunately I do not because definitely there are times and roads where I'd like to be riding one. But a lot of times and places where I would not. The Busa is just a bad version of the ZX-12R. But you keep it because it's a sport bike next to the touring-scooter that the 14R is. I'd sell them both and get the S1000R for short rides in good weather and a decent car for long trips & bad weather. Because there is absolutely no sense in riding a bike a thousand miles when you have a decent car. I also like the Ducati V-twins, specifically the 1200s, for short work (the 900cc bike gets old quick due to its limited powerband and modest power) because they are really fun to ride (small wheelbase, light weight, great torque, good powerband, *that* equals good fun). Not a big fan of the full-sized Panigale, though. It's so long and it gets so hot in the summer. Fast yes, but it handles like a drag-bike which is not my style. The V-twins are a blast of fun. 6R a blast of fun. 14R not a blast of fun. Like a floating bar-stool with handlebars.

Awesome review, man! On Zx6R right now, and it's already too much power and too much almost everything for my skills. Love the stopping power though, you can never have too much of it. But I will change it to a battleship like this, most probably ST 1100 or FJR. Zx14R maybe some day, why not.

I was familiar with your 1000 in a day, and wondered if and when you would review a Kawi. Thanks for an excellent review. As you said both would be excellent bikes. And even if they can make the scenery disappear in the rear views is no reason that has to happen all the time.

This was *great* Nut'n! Beautiful machine. You're probably the only person I would allow to ride my current (and probably last) bike, a BMW R1200RT. To you it would seem light, slow, and with a sound reminiscent of a 1950's aircraft, but it is a SYLA + comfort bike ; )

Hypothetically, if one were to attempt a coast to coast “Cannonball Run” style race which bike do you think would suit that purpose best? Ie can comfortably sit at 100-120+ for multiple hours with a semi decent MPG and can be relatively simply outfitted with a larger/ auxiliary fuel tanks?

FJR1300 in all likelihood. More comfy, bigger windscreen, more weight on your ass on the splendidly comfy seat, and less weight on your hands. If I'm running all the way across in a straight shot, I'm placing a premium on comfort and alertness and hunching over a gas tank makes that bit harder after 13 hours. I've done the jump from UT to CA a bunch in the FJR and it's awesome for it. Feels like sitting on a lazy boy strapped to a missile.You even have a great windscreen that can rise up and give even more silence, which is amazing when you want to reposition and sit up to give your back a rest. In the busa and co, you're stuck hunching under the windscreen, which in itself is fairly cozy, but you need variation over time. The FJ has some good bags integrated too which stick close to the bike if you wanted to rig up aux tanks. You'll give up about 40 mph to the sport bikes though, but I'd say the restfulness makes up for it. Oil and gas reserves are good too, the FJ has a pretty big tank at 6.6gal IIRC. There was a ride report from a lady that drove up to alaska on her busa and really liked it, and it's definitely capable if you are willing to accept the limitations. It really would be something to sling across the U.S. at 188 mph. -Doodle

Very cool review. I sold my ZX14 (2007) a few years ago. Mine had Area-P slip ons and it was absolute music to the ears! I changed out the screen to a Zero Gravity. To say it was fast was the understatement of the year.

I went to the dealer to buy a new busa but it wasn’t very comfortable. I tossed a leg over a zx14r that was a few bikes down. I rode my 2019 zx14r away a few days later. Still love it. Only performance upgrades are a K&N air filter, DELKEVIC 18” ovals and a MOORE MAFIA tuned ECU.

Outlaw Six both of those motorcycles are old dogs, not updated much. Overall, poor choice for the money
@outlawsix13225 жыл бұрын
@@gregk-muth8566 Well, they are sport bikes and they're really only designed to do one thing. But what do you mean "not updated"
@gregk-muth85665 жыл бұрын
Outlaw Six last major update was 10 years ago. Not euro 4 compliant, looks like it will be history in Europe
@outlawsix13225 жыл бұрын
@@gregk-muth8566 So basically you don't like it because it doesn't meet emission standards. I hate to break this to you but most sport bike owners disable the the emissions to make the bike breathe better so it goes faster kind of in the same way people that own diesel pickups do the emissions delete.

I know you from your other channel. I have a ZX4R and a C-14, love them both. Rode the ZX-14R for 1350 miles in two and a half days. Running in front of a storm. Bike was fantastic both on the flat and the mountains. Handled a 40 mph plus crosswind for 150 miles. Never had a worry. If you're careful with it, one could be a newish rider and grow into it. But careful is the word. Great video on a bike I love.

i have this exact one...including the rare red colour which is specific to the first gen II ZX14R. Kawasaki know EXACTLY what they are doing with this bike....it dominates and obliterates anything on the road, even owning an H2 will not give you an edge over this in real world circumstances. this rocket ship bounces pass the 300kph mark with ease in seconds and it will sit there without effort. there is not a rider on this planet that can convince me this machine has flaws....it is perfection. this is my affidavit 👊

CBR1000rr rider here. Power definitely has helped me out of soooo many sticky situations. It’s only dangerous if you get about 7-8K RPMs....then it feels like it’s gonna rip your arms off. I never want more power, but I definitely would like more comfort. I’m 26 and 5’ 7” so I put up with the aggressive ergos and enjoy the great power and handling. But my next bike will probably be more comfortable. I would love to demo a ZX-14 someday!

Great video. Accidentally found you. I’m planning on a long distance road trip about 2200 miles round trip. Do you have front rear reccomdation front rear suspension ? I weigh about 170 lbs 5 ft 9” and would pack light. Thank you for your consideration. 40 years riding experience. Original owner 99 ZRX1100 ELR and think the 14 will be more long distance comfortable. Love seeing the Hayabusa..very nice. Have not purchased yet. Will be serious within a year or less, very excited.
