THIS! ^ agree Damn, a more faithfull Bond to the Ian Fleming's books but with the charisma and charm of Sean Connery (Like in "Goldeneye" and "Living Daylights") would be great But BOND, not a british version of Jason Bourne Who would play him? No idea... There's great British actors who look the part (tall, dark haired blue eyed caucasian male) - Henry Cavill (he was good in "Man of U.N.C.L.E.) - Sam Heughan (just dye his hair) - Luke Evans - Michael Fassbender (looks like Bond from the Books) - Richard Madden

@@ravensthorne4631 they totally botched it after that. Casino Royale was a great reboot but they never capitalized on it’s full potential since. Rushing Quantum Of Solace into production during a writer’s strike was a huge mistake and started the deterioration of this reboot. Skyfall was probably the closest they came to another good movie in this era and they could’ve made stand alone movies after that but they totally ruined things forcing these movies together. They don’t fit together. They spent 15 years spinning their wheels because they didn’t plan this reboot well at all. They need to return to basics and quit making these movies more than they are if they can’t back up these lofty ambitions and hire better writers who can create more consistently good scripts not reliant primarily on gimmicks.

Brilliant review. Savage, and I totally agree with the cliche of "going rogue". Be nice if Bond turns up to the office, gets briefed on a baddie, goes after baddie, deals with various beautiful women, has a nifty car chase, blows up baddie's lair, and goes of into sunset with a hot woman, and with plenty of un-PC one-liners to make us all have a giggle. It's not rocket science, Babs Broccoli..

The point another reviewer made was exact: James Bond is about escapism and a male fantasy of jetting to exotic locals, meeting beautiful women and getting the bad guy. That's it! It's not complicated. Mess with the formula and hit the dirt as many that lay in the franchise graveyard. Star Trek, Star Wars, Superman etc... Go woke, Go broke. I saw the movie and it was sad bc I know it will be the last 007 movie I watched in a theater. I have not interest in a female 007. Notice how they switched the character set up from a man named James Bond, secret agent. To just 007. That's not what Ian Fleming was writing about. It was about a man with a name, a character...not a number.

I just rewatched the Brosnan films and really enjoyed all of them (yes, even Die Another Day) for just being simple, fun spy adventure movies. Part of the appeal of the franchise is that new fans can jump in on pretty much any film and "get' it. Eon experimented with (and majorly bungled) the Marvel-style serialization during the Craig era, but still, his best films were the ones that were essentially standalones (Casino Royale and Skyfall), so Eon could do very well if they just reboot the franchise with Henry Cavill and go back to having Bond go on standalone adventures.

“A new black gay James Bond” it’s not even satirical at this point. The bond franchise was meant to be a reflection of the male fantasy. Cars. Women. Status. Action… Ever since quantum the franchise has been declining and no time to die felt like another depressive craig bond movie. They lost the heart of the franchise. It never took itself too seriously. And then you have writers like Pheobe Waller bridge inject their social politics into the script.. you get an awful result. And that’s not even taking into account the disastrous ending lol

A black James Bond isn't the problem, mate, but maybe you are? Don't feel dismissed because a BLACK DUDE, is a 007. It doesn't diminish white people. Relax. An alpha male like you doesn't feel threatened by black alpha males. Let women fight each other. Idris Elba is head and shoulders more charismatic than any of the possible, fanboy/fangirl contenders definitely including average wannabe Tom Hardy. I can't stand this new movie because they in essence made a GIRLIE FILM. A chick flick. Teary eyed James Bond saying "I love 30 times," a kid running around in the movie and then having the audacity to have one of the ultimate alpha males in pop culture DIE without even fighting it out to the end. James Bond giving up? That's the problem with this sissified, tele-novella. They even brought in a female writer to "soften James Bond up." Blame the chick with the 3 names, writer, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and writer Neal Purvis, and definitely the Producer Barbara Broccoli

The way you’re framing this is disingenuous and it’s low IQ. Taking classically white characters and giving them a race change to score social political points is lazy and frankly shows how creatively bankrupt Hollywood is. I wouldn’t have a problem if they made a ‘00’ movie and cast Idris Elba.. although I don’t think that would be successful. The pull of the franchise is James Bond (not the universe). If they make James Bond black, I won’t like it.. not because I don’t like black people or I’m threatened by them, however because it’s destroying the groundwork of flemings franchise. i m sure they had considered an ending like this: sure, bond was infected with the nanobots programmed to kill madeline and his daughter upon touch. so he will never have them and had to send them away safe. but he also saves the world by getting the missiles to destroy the factory and somehow, as only bond could, escapes and lives to fight another day. this way it does not mess with the bond continuity and exim and might just pave the way for a future storyline in which a reunion w his family might just be possible. I agree that Ana de Armas was criminally under used. I know this review mentions that her character added nothing and I say that's only true because of how limited she was. In what little we do get of her though, I thought she was fantastic and that's the real problem. In just 10 minutes, her charming performance and chemistry with Bond out shined Lea Seydoux. I think Seydoux is a good actress but she just doesn't have the chemistry with Craig necessary to make me believe that he'd give up everything for her. Ana breathed some life into her sequence and it was just frustrating to get rid of her so soon when she could have been up there with the greatest Bond girls of all time.

@@NerdGirlUK Yeah unfortunately with the way that they ended this, I'm not sure if they can bring Ana de Armas back. From what I hear, it seems like they are rebooting the universe with a new Bond next time. I guess that doesn't mean that they can't use her again because Maud Adams was used twice, once in The Man With The Golden Gun and then again as Octopussy. Same thing with Joe Don Baker in The Living Daylights and then being brought back to play Wade in Goldeneye. Using the same actor has been done before in this series so there's always hope. I doubt though that it would be the same character and that's a shame. I really like Paloma as well. She kind of stole the show in her sequence. We are living the era of narratives. But, women will instinctively love masculine strong men and men will love beautiful cute women they can protect. Nobody dreams of feminist beta-men let alone wheezel like yes-men. Nobody dreams of Maggie Thatcher. She was a strong woman but most men dream of women who need protection, who are lovely to touch and look at, who love to take care of children and home. Absolutely agree with you!! Everything on point! To me the movie starts to fall apart right after the opening action scene, and from there they are not able to put a great deal in character development. The main villain here should have more screen time and more dialogues and dwell more into his character and why he became what he is. The rest is a festival cliches out of time and totally stupid. They bought Spectre just to kill him in the most stupid way, The movie is devoid of soul, fun and spy plots. Bond is male fantasy about fast cars, shooting bad dudes and laid with gorgeous women! Exotic places and a lot of class. Simple as that. You cannot kill Bond. Also the black woman as 007 is a total waste, she doesn’t even have an action sequence where we could understand why she is a top secret agent and more importantly a 007. The end was brutal and show the lack of humor, grit and intelligent writing on the movie, Casino Royale was the good one from this tragic attempt of a saga. Hardly any classic Bond music during the chase or smart one liners. No Casino scene. He drank BEER..wtf..everywhere he went he made a blunder. I mean the villain was more respectable to have let the baby go and died remaining behind when he could have simply fled and died doing what he truly believed in. I say it was a huge let down. The worse element, if you can call it that, was this notion of a Bond series having an over tiring story arc that just makes you want to yawn like a bored cow in a field munching on the cud and being milked continually until it's death. This film was re-edited for a good reason, and it shows in the film. Female 007 was a totally pointless side character in the new re-edited movie. But served a purpose to feed the agenda when the original film was being prepared for it's intial release. The only sole purpose of this film was to destroy the old Bond to bring in the new Bond, that will probably reflect the new values of gender neutrality. Heterosexuality will be the enemy of the new improved Bond. Sick and twisted, but that just reflects what's driving the corporations who help produce this screwy psychological mind bending shit.

I absolutely agree with your point about giving the Craig films some epic arc which is entirely personal to bond was a major flaw.. But I don't really think the female 007 was a significant issue in this movie at all... I mean we'll see where they go from here, but the film would not have been any better without her in it, she wasn't the problem.. the problem is that Bond is never allowed to be 007 to begin with in these movies. It's always some vendetta or personal quest.. Just let the man do his job. I was sitting in the last third of No time to Die, wondering why this was a bond movie to begin with.

I HATE that they killed Bond. Yes, its shocking. Yes, it brings a finality to the Craig era... But what about the Connery, Moore, Lasanby, Dalton and Brosnan era. James Bond SURVIVED every previous incarnation. Allowing the next actor to play Bond without an asterisk. It truly is the Han Solo factor. Yeah, let's kill off Han and then introduce a movie where we kill off one of the biggest heroes of the franchise and then have him die cowardly - THEN, introduce a spinoff, that could become a whole line of spinoff movies, featuring the character we killed off!!! Hollywood is in REAL trouble when they start killing off our heroes. Our heroes deserve a certain form of immortality, because when you kill them off and keep going, telling more stories of them... Its kind of like there is something in our head that we just can't help, going "Why are you still telling stories of that loser?"

Don't waste your time. This is a "woke" Bond movie, with some angry, sullen, arrogant black woman playing 007 (yes, really). Bond has - apparently - fathered a child to the French love interest (Seydoux), who gets kidnapped by the pineapple complexion villain. (Played ridiculously and unconvincingly by Rami Malek) Bond gets killed in the end, by ordering a strike by British warships on the villains lair in the Russian/Japanese islands. (Where he is). I'm glad he got blown up. I was getting fed up with the social engineering in bond films. Apart from anything else, it was a confused story that goes way beyond "suspending your belief". This is the worst Bond movie by far and I wish I could get back the 2hrs 45 minutes I wasted, watching it. This is a seriously bad film.

Having lived in China, I'm interested by the edits that happen in movies to appeal to the Chinese market. Future films won't cater to the Chinese audience so much (if at all) due to how risky China is becoming for foreign companies,, but NTTD was made before all that happened.

First time to visit your website, so glad I did, not only did you save me the ticket money, we can't tell the truth in the USA about how we feel. Only thing that might be satisfying is seeing the Aston Martin, and that's not worth almost a three hour wait., Based on trailers I've been frustrated with all the characters they threw into to this one and still didn't catch who the mother of Bonds daughter was. I'm an old Sean fan anyway, so I'm way behind the curve with this Craig Bond. With several tours in Vietnam , Seans Bond was not that fictional, we had similar gadgets and real bad guys.Craig's Bond was always melancholy. The two Red series were actually more entertaining I know you'd die watching the satire of the Flint movies and Avengers with Dean Martin - a bit juevenile but at the time fun. Thanks for saving me some money.

Batcho, Had to wait until today, November the 11th, for the last 007 to come out. I thought of your review while getting my popcorn and said to myself “why am I doing this?” Three elements ruined it for me…before the film even started no less: -There was an ad from the Queensland government (I’m in Queensland, Australia) to encourage people to get vaccinated. I felt like screaming: “A REAL PANDEMIC DOESNT NEED ADVERTISING.” -It was followed by one of these new Volvo ads, the ones pushing catastrophic global warming as a punchline. Like buying an electric car is good for the planet. When will people realise that electric cars are worse for the environment due to the mining of rare earth elements? -To top it all off, after the opening scene, Billie Eilish (the biggest woke globalist opportunist ever) started singing in the opening credit. I gave this three hour long bad film 30 minutes…then I walked out. An absolute waste of time.

To say it's not an impressive series is a serious understatement! For me the fist problem was the casting of James Bond. And one of the many reasons that No Time to Die fails is that too many cooks (writers) spoil the broth and the main reason for this is that they gave the actor far too much power so he had a hand at sacking Danny Boyle and bringing in the woke SJW female writer to absolutely kill the script.

I have to say that I like your style of critique, as it’s blunt and not filled with SJW propaganda bullshit. I agree wholeheartedly about this movie, particularly as to the direction of the franchise in the future. The James Bond character is just one more victim in a long line of targets for the woketard, liberal pansies. A lot of people might take your statement about the “gay, black female” as a joke, but where are the limits with anything anymore? How far down the road is the moment when they stick Bond’s ass in a dress instead of a tuxedo for the next dinner party scene and have him flirt with the male guests? Looking at this film from a broader perspective, it’s actually pretty frightening to see how it embodies the changing values of society and the world, definitely not for the better. Nothing is sacred or honorable in Hollywood or films anymore. Damned be the person who rises up and speaks out against it, as they, as you stated, will be branded a racist or some other card-playing label utilized by the woketards. Seeing as how Bond was slowly becoming more and more emasculated, they probably did him a favor by killing him off. God only knows what the hell he would be like in the next few films, had this rendition of the character survived. Great review and thanks for speaking it like it is. I also found Ana de Armas to be quite gorgeous and was sad to see her small bit of a role end so soon. Oh gracious me, here I am a straight, White male, professing my attraction for a female. I sure hope that didn’t ruffle any woketard feathers.

In my opinion Daniel Craig is not James Bond, he's a normal action character like Jason Bourne, Bond used to be the guy that every guy wanted to be He fell in love with 2 women and left MI6 twice all in the space of 4 movies.... What kind of James Bond is that..... Could you ever imagine Connery, Moore or Brosnan doing anything like that... If you want the Bond from the books then watch the Dalton or Craig Bond, he used to be a charismatic suave and sophisticated bebonair with an eye for the ladies who killed the bad guy and saved the world, If you don't have all these qualities then how can you possibly still be James Bond anymore.... Bond isn't an icon for being Joe average gritty secret agent with no humor Connery set the scene and it was continued through Moore and Brosnan, This is what separated him from all other action movie characters and why every woman wanted him and everyone guy wanted to be him I love the Bourne movies and have watched them all many times but if Bourne suddenly started chasing the women, developing a sense of humor or began being suave and sophisticated I'd be totally put off the character and that's why I was put off Craig fron the beginning It's why Moore, Brosnan and Connery were brilliant and Craig is nothing more than a generic action character with a cool name and heritage built on the backs of his predecessors

@@pr-tj5by I agree. Tbh I blame the producers. When Craig was cast in the role they shyed away from the Bond formula and took too much influence from the Bourne films. Bare in mind the first Bourne film was released the same year as Die Another Day in 2002. As a result the Bond franchise lost it's identity in the Craig era. Bond was never meant to be dark and realistic. That's what the Bourne films are for. Instead, this movie focused more on melodramatic soap opera, rather than creating an interesting villain, another flaw of this movie! It still might not have “saved” it, but would have made it better if Safin had more scenes and more developed character!
