Kisame is my favourite Akatsuki, his vibe was always so interesting and a unique mix. He looks like a wild animal, yet he has the most polite way of talking out of the bunch. He doesn't get angry or wild quickly, he was shown to be quite perceptive in his fight against Killer B. Even his fighting style is a mixture of wild powerful blows with some thoughts behind them, generally creating a field advantage for himself by making a lake and then controlling the environment for attacks and decoys. Truly a competent and underutilized antagonist.

The best Akatsuki duo. Both could have killed each other any moment they wished, but they did not. It started out hostile, but they grew closer and became even genuine friends. I believe Kisame knew at aome point Itachi was a spy, yet he said nothing, because of nothing but respect for Itachi. It's as Obito said to Sasuke: "No one should ever question Itachi's decision and the sacrifices he made" And Kisame never did question it. Even if he knew his friend was a traitor, he admired and respected him. Even if the Akatsuki was an evil oragnization, the members were still humans wronged by the Shinobi world

Next to Sasuke Itachi was always my favorite Naruto character. He calm, he's quiet, he's well spoken, but he's also intimidating, driven, and very powerful. He was only a teenager here but he's a good example of what a man should be like. Men like Kisame tend to talk a lot and sometimes they can back up that talk too, but often the most dangerous man in the room is the quiet one. The one who will let you talk and talk and talk and just listen without saying a word, but when he does speak his words are sharp, to the point, and carefully chosen. Be dangerous, be like Itachi.

Not true, the reasonings behind their comrades murder were different. Kisame then said killing comrades is perfectly OK because its in his nature as part shark. Not true because he's also a human. That's one way of looking at it but I personally think they did die honorable deaths meaning they really weren't bad people. Kisame did get eaten by sharks but by his own choice and he did it to ensure he did not give up intel and still secured and sent off the intel he received. That's a very honorable way to die in the Ninja world. Up until that point (and including this scene), everything about Kisame's backstory showed him to be very dishonorable, two faced, and having no real alliance or loyalty to anything but his survival. His death showed otherwise. In Itachi's case he did die of his sickness but he died getting to know and see he fufilled what he wanted to. Which was give Sasuke more power, rid Sasuke of Orochimaru for good and he even got to see that Sasuke had a great friend (Naruto). While on the outside it looks like they both had painful deaths, on the inside they were both at peace in the end. I think on face value it looks like horrible deaths but they really weren't. Which is why I think the ending of this conversation foreshadows that. Itachi does make it seem like he is saying they both would not die decent deaths but then when Kisame says that inevitably means both will die horrible deaths, Itachi rebuttals with "No matter who you are, you do not truly know what kind of man you've become until you reach the very end". In my eyes, this means he is saying they both have a chance to change their faith and it would seem like they did.

​@@greg2797 great breakdown, i love the irony that despite their violent deaths, they both died with a smile on their face (itachi twice lmao). plus in his internal monologue during his death, after recalling the conversation in this video, kisame says "well itachi, looks like i was a decent human being after all". also would like to add that kisame was never dishonorable, just that he was confused. he was a mist ninja who had to kill other mist ninja to support his village. he didn't know who he was, a traitorous villain or a hero, which is the base of his angst and why he thought he was dishonorable. but by the end, he killed himself, for the same reasons he killed his comrades, revealing to himself that he never betrayed anyone, and was always a consistent person with sharp convictions, only he was stuck in a world where his actions could appear contrary to them; identical to itachi. the only different being that itachis worldview (his 'eyes') where more advanced than kisamed, so he could see the world for what it was, whereas kisame got lost in his own turmoil but clarity came as he died.

They were thought to be 1 way all the way until their deaths and the truth is then revealed that they actually were not bad people. @@dazaiosamu852 where to begin? We can start with the fact that justified or not, Itachi had numerous opportunities to avoid the coup and the massacre, particularly with the murder of Shisui. Even if Itachi could not have saved Shisui, she had a golden opportunity to kill two giant birds with one stone, exposing Danzo for murder, and by bringing the deaf out into the open; forcing the village and the clan to the negotiating table. This was something that even the radicals on either side would not be able to ignore. The second one is his treatment of Sasuke... Itachi goes down in anime history as the worst older brother in the entire medium. He tortured Sasuke to the brink of insanity and some of the cruelest ways possible, and for what? So he could awaken new ocular powers? There is no universe where that is remotely justifiable. Itachi is the most evil hypocrite in the entire series.

It wasn't Itachi's job though solve the problems between the clan and the village. Both sides put all the weight on him and noone was willing for negotiation, so he chose the less bloody solution. I doubt exposing Danzo for Shisui's death would make things any better. Danzo would of course deny everything or make up a story of Shisui attacking him first and the hokage would probably protect him as always despite being aware of all his crimes. The moment the Uchiha would learn of his assassination they would need nothing more to start the coup immediately. It would have been a direct act of war. The 3rd hokage had plenty of years after the nine tails incident--completely aware of the problem-- to reach out to the Uchiha and find a common ground, but he was just sitting his ass doing nothing and let everyone else making the decisions. As for Sasuke, I agree the torture was unnecessary. I guess he didn't want him to doubt his actions. He wanted him to believe that he lost his mind and killed everyone on a whim, but I think only witnessing everything would have been enough on its own..

Tbf the reason Itachi did all of that to Sasuke is because Itachi being a good guy was a retcon. Originally, Itachi was supposed to be the villain he was painted as. When he was introduced Kishimoto had planned for Itachi to truly be a guy who just killed his family for power and was crazy. It was later that he decided to change the story of Itachi and make him honorable but he'd already done all that stuff to Sasuke in part one by then because Kishimoto hadn't known he was eventually going to be a good guy. It's just a bit more lack of foresight that Kishimoto is known for.
