Circadian Dice came highly recommended to me! It's a 'dicebuilding' roguelite game similar to stuff like Slay the Spire, but using dice with modifiable faces instead of cards, and it echoes a lot of the strategy and probability aspects representative of the genre's best games. Check it out!

@@TripleOmega the UI is just a little cluttered, and you only drag and drop the die but you can click and drag the die face upgrades

I didn't much like this at first because the aesthetic disagreed with me, but the core gameplay loop is pretty addictive to watch.

I mean Slay the Spire was/is pretty ugly too but everyone loved it. It is the gameplay thats most important. I even prefer CDs rough aesthetics. It at least looks a little different. When I watched E3 everything looked semey.

@@Crystal-58 I mean slay the spire is a great game and had a huge impact on the indie scene but it really lacks on the visual part. I mean it looks like a browser game, especially during the early days. Overall artwork is simplistic and scratchy. You can still like it but it definitely is ugly.

I hope we can see at least a mini series of this, it has so much potential! I've already been following the game for a while and this got me straight up days (aka like 100 hours or so) of pure fun, the mechanics they keep introducing the first time you're unlocking stuff is just immeasurably fun.

Was really hoping this one wouldn't slip by you, and as a heads up, they add more mechanics for every character, and then it unlocks those mechanics for all characters, so the game gets harder but also more fun as you go. Honestly can't praise it enough. My only complaint is how basic the graphics are, but that's also part of the charm, so even that rings a bit hollow. Edit: Love that Retro dropped by to endorse the game, and that you consider that good enough. I'm a big fan of his too.

Yeah, they seem to have taken a lot of the art from other games. Is that allowed? I also noticed the 'vampire' art at 16:20 is used in a game called Dungeon Top. As are the goblins and 'brutes'.

(Dev here) The enemy art in the game is from a licensed asset library made by a group of artists known as Rexard. It's really good, so it's bound to show up in a lot of games :). See the game's credits for information about where all the game's assets come from.

I went and got it after watching this video. Already unlocked campaign and man...it gets really unforgiving late game. Feels like one bad roll can screw you out of a win. But maybe that's just because I always go for 5 stars

That was my main issue with that one dungeon game. I didn't mind his bad plays, he was learning, but he was so adamant about not moving his camera away from a spot that covered up a combo/bonus tracker.

Am i wrong or is the probability of not drawing one of the double swords (one on each dice) (2 over 0 ) * (5/6)^2 * (1/6)^0 ie 25/36, meaning its pretty reasonable to not roll a double sword that would kill the crow a few times in a row. Why is Egg so upset?

yeah for one roll its not too likely (~70% to fail as you calculated), but when you factor in the two rerolls available you should expect to see one in a turn (70%^3 = ~33% to fail). He should've had more double-sword-turns than not.

@@KittyTheKat441 There's far too little player agency in Dicey Dungeons. Everything is, quite literally, RNG. In Slay the Spire or Darkest Dungeon, losing because of events beyond your control are the _exception_ not the norm. However, in Dicey Dungeons, you can literally do everything _perfectly_, you can choose the correct equipment, you can choose the correct path, you can choose the correct upgrades, you can maximise the number of times you limit break and so on and so forth. But then you can instantly lose simply because of three straight turns you rolled nothing and the enemy rolled perfectly. Dicey Dungeons _would_ be great if it did just *one* thing: Give every character a way to actually manipulate the dice. Thief can do that and that's what makes Thief the best character in Dicey Dungeons, IMO (He's the only character I've done all six rounds of), but the other classes don't have that luxury. They have to sit there and _get lucky_. Now, I don't mean "Not be unlucky". I don't mean lucky as in "Thank fuck he didn't take thirty critical hits to the face". I mean the other characters have to sit there and hope that the dice they roll are actually useful to them. They have to hope that they get equipment that allows a larger number of dice to be used. Once you hit the mid game, the enemies start being *perfectly* kitted out. There's no "bad roll" for them. But there can be for the player. Losing a run of Dicey Dungeons doesn't actually teach you anything. There's no enemy patterns to figure out, there's no routes to learn, there's _barely_ any synergies to discover. All that losing a run of Dicey Dungeons teaches you is that the enemy was luckier than you.
