They hired a Dude making brutal, dark, nihilistic comics full of death, despair and surrealist humor about a homocidal Maniac who murders people to make Childrens TV. I mean, really, how did this show even manage to happen in the first place? It´s just as surreal as Vaquez humor.

For the original airing of the show he was also doing Billy and Mandy and would sometimes go back to back recording lines for different studios. Man’s lost his voice a few times and even says in an old interview it was a bit of a hard time playing Zim because of so much screaming, but he said it in a light hearted way and seems to genuinely love playing the character when he can. So it was a fun blast and a pain in the ass.
