Fun fact: The devs behind this game are apparently the ones working on the new Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 game. So based on what they’ve done with the zombie hordes in this game, I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like having to fend off literal WAVES of Tyrannids in their upcoming project.

Honestly, an apocalyptic world that I consider the worst would be SCP-001 "When Day Breaks", where the sun's light literally becomes our enemy by turning everything organic into weird melted wax-like flesh by simply being in contact with it. And the flesh monsters end up with the memories and voices of those who turn to bait more people to be liquefied, that shit scary

I would like to recommend Max Brooks's "Zombie survival guide" book about a hipothetical zombie apocalypse survival. Very thorough and assumes the absolute worst scenarios, like waterborne/airborne transmission vectors. Nice read 👌

To add onto this, the book World War Z (also written by Max Brooks) is a great example of the "coming together in the apocalypse" story as well, though it's told from after the war was won.
