Theory: So they’re working together, right? Feels like a good cop/bad cop routine. Different theory: what if "the plan" was just a fantasy Listener came up with to give Catherine hope of escaping one day, and thats why she doesn’t know when the plan ends?
@aguyontheinternet84362 ай бұрын
Third theory, Catherine is on the spectrum, and her mind only broke because of her family's extreme overreaction to her not acting normally.

@@aguyontheinternet8436 As someone who knows many autistic people, I can confirm that feeling a need to control over people (to ensure their behavior is predictable), and even obsessing over a specific person (in a way easily mistaken for love), are both very real things some autistic people grapple with.

Seems a bit strange to be so certain that we aren't being visited, given that clearly Catherine managed to get in at least one time prior when she lost her eye with no explanation as to how it happened.

And now I just wanna hug the nurse. Still it feels like one or both are lying. Still why would the nurse lie about Catherine not being locked up. She does sound like the more trustworthy though
@aguyontheinternet8436Ай бұрын
The nurse feels trustworthy, but a bit stupid. Honestly not sure if trustworthy is the right word cause trusting a naive person with information that can be used against you is scary

If I remember correctly, you said the year was in the 1950s and were obviously in a place in Scotland or England and that leads me to believe that I was obviously a soldier in World War II so I’m trying to think of any things that the British army committed that would warrant the “I was just following orders” response unless…. I was on the other side. (That would be a crazy messed up story lol)
@gasmonkey10002 ай бұрын
I don't think the listener is a kraut or Italian. Too good at English. A lot of British air operations in Germany have gotten scrutiny. Dresden especially, even if it was a legitimate target with how it was a critical hub for Wehrmacht trains moving to the east, saw a lot of dead civs. If a bomber crew member got shot down over Germany, saw the aftermath and suffering while avoiding capture, that could explain the ramblings of "just following orders."
@thespaceconqueror2302 ай бұрын
@@gasmonkey1000 yeah that’s probably more likely answer. I completely forgot about the British bombing campaign because it usually gets gloss over in favor of the American bombing campaign, but I guess bombing a city and then getting shot down inside city would be very traumatizing
@gasmonkey10002 ай бұрын
@@thespaceconqueror230If memory serves though the listener was a squaddie not a bomber crewman. Anti-"Werwolf" operations? Limited as they were, Germany's Werewolf plan saw some dead, and left a lot of sociopaths an excuse to kill civs. Can't find any records of the Brits doing anything retaliatory but I know the kanuks leveled a whole town because one of their own got killed by a guerilla
