same here. though I will leave butter out if it needs softening. Though I know in Europe you can leave eggs out of the fridge, though that has to do with the way American eggs are cleaned and processed, it removes a protective layer around the shell that prevents bacterial infection.

@@neilny7797 no seriously, a protective layer called the cuticle is removed in American processing, it's a protein layer that fills the pores of the shell to allow air inside. It's the first line of defense to protect embryo if the egg were to be fertilized. Basically think like mayonnaise, refrigerate after opening.

Butter goes right in the fridge so it doesn’t spoil! I knew a guy who got horrific food poisoning from movie theater popcorn because the butter had spoiled! Nowadays most theaters use butter-flavored vegetable oil instead of actual butter.

You should put real butter in the fridge, because it's dairy product, but margarine should be alright when it's left out if the room isn't hot enough to melt it.

butter is basically milk fat with some solids in it, it wont go off if left out, it might seperate into runny fat and a glob of solids if it get really hot. margarine is not food, it is plastic.

Ps about the butter, here in America it's usually in the fridge, mostly because of spoilage, but I grew up with my grandparents who were old fashioned and they usually kept it in the cupboard, so I can go either way with it 😀

Both. When I buy a 4 pack of butter, 3 go into the fridge, and the one that’s going to be used over the next day or so gets put into the butter dish in the counter. The worst thing is trying to spread cold ass butter onto something. At the same time I would rather not catch salmonella. It’s a give and take relationship with butter and I think I’ve found a happy compromise.
