As a British man who has studied the American Revolution for years and is my biggest passion in history. This song is perhaps the best capture of who King George III was. It's ironic in a show about a leading American General, it is the King of Great Britain who has the best songs and the best humor. King George III was well renowned for being normal one moment and then going into an absolute rage within seconds. This song captures that so well and it adds the humor to this song.

Well, in his later years he had porphyria, which could lead sufferers to be mentally unstable as well as other awful symptoms. My understanding is that this portrayal wasn’t his entire personality. He wasn’t “evil,” or stupid on the whole.

It's because British audiences get involved like that. Plus the song is a comical number which has a lot of British humor in it. Hence why it hits more with the Brits than the Yanks, and no it's not because it is portraying a King lol. It's openly mocking King George III and the one thing the Brits are good at, is taking the piss out of themselves. Something Americans don't quiet understand. As Stephen Fry once said, "This is the difference between American and British humor. In a comedy if a man was on a stairs and was playing a guitar that wasn't working, Americans would want to be in the audience laughing at that man. The British would want to be the man playing the guitar which wasn't working." Sums it up fairly well. I'm not saying Americans don't get comedy or have a sense of humor, it's just different to the British. Hence why Brits get more involved in comedic songs taking the piss out of something British.

I think he was having trouble hearing the orchestra. There’s a couple places where he slows down relative to the accompaniment. Some of it is because he’s insisting on enunciation in places where he doesn’t necessarily need it… but sometimes it seems like it’s just like the orchestra’s rushing him, which can sometimes happen when a singer’s monitors aren’t working well.

a king sometimes start pretty young. King george III was 22 when he was king. Groff was was about 30 when he played the role while king george was 37 at the start of the revolution. Daniel was 44. Technically they are both just as distance from the real age. I prefer Groffs humour it made this character so much
