actually, it doesn't matter if you chose Caelus or Stelle, it matters what dialogue choices you make during prologue. if you're complimenting March and act all gentleman, you get her to greet you, but if you're more cold and distant, like Dan Heng, you get him. i got Dan Heng greeting me, playing as Caelus. and it's way better than just giving us a companion based on mc's gender.

I don't know if Mihoyo actually intending to make MC self insert or not according to who first greeted us like in this video But, MC and FMC alone have different personalities. This isn't based on gender. This is based on the dialogue option you get when you meet Himeko for the first time and she asks what you think of March. If you pick the dialogue option that coencides more with March's personality, she waits for you. If you pick the dialogue option that coencides more with Dan Heng's personality, he waits for you. I picked Caelus as the MC and Dan Heng waited for me to wake up.
