My husband was up And down we couldn’t keep him in bed he wanted up to the toilet he was determined he was going to the loo.. he didn’t need it but I new it was terminal additation he had. We had to get the nurses in to sedate him. He was sedated three times on the Monday night 5pm 8 pm and at 10pm they finally gave him madazalam and that knocked him out. He passed the following morning peacefully. The nurse said at 8am on the Tuesday it would happen within the next 48 hours. He passed 2 hours later. He is now pain free and in a better place I miss him so much. We were married 51 years. 😢😢😢

When my nan was palliative the meds really helped, she had monents of real clarity and then moments obviously that were very distressing. We clung to the funny moments with her, like the time she told me there was a "f in " brown chicken staring at me in her bedroom 😂. Still makes me chuckle. Its all about dignity and comfort for sooz, you are so amazing keep going and sending you both lots of peace and strength x

Have you thought about seeing a doctor yourself, maybe hospice can help you to see someone. Because you might need a very light medication that allows you to calm down enough to sleep. Because it's so important that you sleep! To you and to Sooz! I know...I've been in your place.

I loved bean's prayer. Everything going on sounds perfectly normal in end of life care. Nurse Jenny is a hospice nurse on u tube. She often talks about the agitation and the clarity. I experienced both with my husband. I hope you are able to rest, Emma.

When my mum was in, and I was there all the time, if I needed to sleep in the day, if go out to the car, crank the seat down a bit, cover myself with my blankie, if have my phone with me, and set the alarm on it if I really had to, but dont be surprised if people knock the window to see if you're ok. I often put my cost on backwards so I could put the hood over my face to shut out the sun! Much love to you both 💔💕

I was out shoveling snow a few weeks ago and it was so hard and I was overwhelmed. I just stopped and asked God to please let someone stop and help me. It was less than a minute. A man came around the corner and asked if he could plow my driveway. He cared enough to answer my prayer. My mom went through a year…three stints in intensive care, several surgeries and many times we thought she wouldn’t make it. I was traveling back and forth to the hospital, barely sleeping, trying to help my dad, all while working full time. I was beyond exhausted. I had a meltdown in the car one day and again prayed. This time I asked for hot fries. Silly I know, but when I got to the drive up window, the woman smiled and handed me a bag with fresh, hot fries in it. I cried a river while I ate them and that simple thing gave me strength to pull myself back together. I could write a book full of stories of healings, provision and miracles. There are so many questions. Like why didn’t he just heal my mom so she didn’t have to suffer through all that, but he would send me a tiny request? I only know that no matter how tough things get, he will walk through them with us if we ask him to. I hope our words and prayers give you strength. ❤

I love how you perk up when talking about certain things yet, you’re exhausted, you are running on adrenaline. I had a heart attack last year, life changes, trying to keep myself healthy….i do yoga now 😆 I’m not graceful at all, what it does is help my mind, and my balance. Faith comes in lots of way…..keeping together, being kind, not worrying about others, just those that bring happiness. Dear Emma I wish there was something that could make this all better!! I was working when my mom was terminal and I wanted to be with her !! I took a night off to stay at the hospital!! A co worker told me this lady that was a lead person on day shift made a remark that was very unkind about me being with my mom !! I never cared for this person!! Hi Emma. You’re the best sister ever. When you’re alone in the hospital the staff forget’s about you real fast if you’re not the demanding type. I once waited 8 hours for a glass of water. I don’t know if anyone has mentioned “Hospice Nurse Julie” to you. She’s on KZbin and has videos on what to expect during the active dying phase for all types of diseases. She’s on TikTok now too. You’re doing an amazing job of taking care of Sooz ❤❤❤ those donuts looked delicious.

I’m so glad that Sooz is doing a little bit better. I’m sure being able to sort out car insurance on her own really made her feel good. When you’re losing function and ability and everyone has to do things for you, it’s really nice to be able to do something for yourself. I’m also glad that she’s been able to get some strength back to be able to get to the washroom when she needs to. Every little bit of ability she’s able to retain is probably a huge mental boost for her. I hope you are able to get some sleep, but I can certainly understand running on adrenaline and not being able to settle enough to fall asleep. Emma, im so glad you were on today, been worried last night. If they have started the steroids, they will give her some energy that will help her. Im worried about you, as i said in the past , i was caregiver to a sister ,2 brothers and parents, all the way till the end, and now i have had cancer twice myself, and 3 autoimmune diseases that have taken a big quality of my life. Im surprised they dont have a portable bed to bring in for you. I wouldnt want to leave her either. Even though the sadness is unbearable, theres something about seeing the calm come over their face as they go home. Maybe a preacher or deacon could come talk with her and it would give her so much peace. They should be able to help with that if Suze wishes. Meanwhile sending tons of prayers across the pond. The ups and downs are really incredible. Amazing moments that leave us in disbelief. Just being with her and going through it all with her, is one of the toughest things to do with our loved one. Please try to rest in the next room(even if just for a short time). Drink a chamomile tea perhaps. Be gentle on yourself, the staff will alert you if needed, for sure. I think that now is probably the hardest time, because somehow, somewhere there is some little glimmer of hope that there will be a miracle and you won’t lose Sooz after all.
