This is excellently edited, because it's not just the line but it sometimes leaves in the line before and/or afterward when it's entertaining (because of humor, context, or drama) in order to keep the video interesting. It makes this video far more fun to watch than of it had only been the same line repeated endlessly. I enjoyed the whole thing.

But seriously, why is this line in almost every film? Is it an esoteric signal to the screen writers guild? Almost every time the phrase is used, it has nothing to do with anything in the film, and the actor never actually looks like shit. It seems to be more than a cliche.

My theory is that it’s taught at writing school. Someone being critical of the main characters looks when they clearly look fine, and when they’re maybe a little tired and had a tough ordeal, gives you sympathy towards them.
