Joe, I love how you've grown as a creator and a person. Sure the road to get to here has been rocky and rough, but you're still helping those who need it in a way that leaves it up to them. This dude seems to be on the up and up, and I'm glad there are people out there like you to allow him to better himself and his situation. I sincerely hope he becomes a success story. I grew up in a place surrounded by criminality of the worst type, but I, like many others, was able to escape it. Never been officially arrested, but at this point, my main crime these days is calling out and exposing criminals in the political sphere. The same sort of people who led the criminality I was born into. I wouldn't make a good regular prisoner, but I know I would excel at being a political prisoner. I wouldn't be suicidal, because that ain't me. I would however cause the guards to want to kill me via non violent action on my part.

I'm from Canada and I find it weird that having been in prison or jail is a barrier to getting a job. The only thing we really have is , depending on the job, you might have to get a vulnerable person report from the cops. Even then they dont get what you were convicted of just whether or not any of your crimes would make you ineligible to work with certain populations. Thats all that we have. In fact I think it is illegal for an employer to ask if you have been convicted of any crimes at all.

@@playingindies6730 Ya we have old age facilities and community places that work with children. Daycare and facilities dealing with people with disabilities. I'm sure there are other places that deal with vulnerable populations. more than you might think. Looking into it it is not illegal to ask about convictions, but they cannot ask you about arrests and crimes for which you have been pardoned. The only reason I can really think of an employer asking about convictions is in the case of fraud and/or theft when applying to a bank or other such institution.

To become a social worker I will need a piece of paper that I have never been in prison for assault or abuse and the rest nobody cares about But here when people come from prison, life isnt made impossible for them

What I’ve learned in this life is that life does not owe you shit you can’t sit back on the couch and hold your hand out and expect life to hand something to you.
