If my parents had treated me like OP. My grandparents would be petty as hell and help me by playing along. I would probably take my grandparents to a luxury car dealership and have my grandparents take a picture sitting in a brand new car after refusing to give my parents money. Chances are we probably will not buy the car but we will send my parents a picture with the caption, "my grandson bought me a new car" then send the picture to my parents.
