I don’t have a good name for a small bass amp but I’m convinced that the 300w KT66 version should be named Marital Rift

Man your builds are just stunning. I love that you’re constantly adjusting for best possible quality.

My Rift head is fab - using it wet/dry with a Matchless C15. Lovely.

I have a suggestion for speaker - first off for AlNiCos, I think the Celestion Cream is probably the best sounding AlNiCo they make right now, certainly way better than a gold or ruby for my money. However for something a bit more economical, I suggest looking at the Creambacks, they sound great too. I have a 2 x 12 with a Cream and a Creamback Neo and I have to say they sound surprisingly similar, the Creamback Neo weighs half what a regular ceramic weighs and is a truly great sounding speaker IMHO (btw Zilla cabs channel has some comparison video if that helps).

Barefaced also have a Creamback comparison vid on YT - some interesting differences depending on gain levels

Thought on bass amp, maybe putting a line out on the speaker out. The bass player in our band for a couple of small bar gigs has used my jtm45 clone that I added the line out to, and ran that to an IR box into the FOH PA plus the cab on stage and it worked great for the gig, the PA with the sub filled nicely. But can't wait to see it if you do it.

wondering if there's a market for low powered stereo > power amps? I could imagine that the modelfer crowd could be a potential target for a 10-30 watt amp and there's nothing like that on the market.

Another really interesting video and I can see your work is of the highest standards, but have you ever considered putting metal corner protectors on your amps? Back in the seventies my Fender Quad reverb had them and when I got a Deluxe reverb the first thing I did was put the protective corners on. I know Fender used them on their more expensive amps.

Yes to a bass amp! I was just thinking about making an enquiry with you for a bass head! Need 4 ohm output though!!

I would be interested in a bass amp. 50W is more than enough for me, so yeah, do let me know. 6L6 is perfect, I have a few amps on 6L6 valves, so it would be nice. Please let me know how it goes. Cheers

150 watt valve pre-amp and Solid state power amp for a bass head with a 4 and 8 ohm switch ? I miss the red mains voltage switch they used to put on export Fender amps, are they still "legal" and safe ? Thanks for another interesting viddy-o.

Hi Chris. Quick question, are you considering going to using radial electrolytic caps on your builds?
@RiftAmps2 ай бұрын
Nope, and I’ve explained why numerous times in previous videos 👍

@@RiftAmps thanks for the reply! I’ll find it. Planning a plexi build and leaning towards Nichicon rather than can caps but looking for more opinions. 👍

Shame. The Hiwatt brand has had many owners over the years but in my humble opinion the Dave Reeves/Harry Joyce amps were so much better than anything that followed. I bought a new Dave Reeves era 50 watt head brand new from Top Gear in Denmark St for £50 ! After a few years I traded it in against a Vox AC10 something I’ve always regretted. The Hiwatt was by far the best guitar amp I’ve ever owned.
