Teena Marie was my favorite. I have every album she made. I know her music catalog very well..This song has never failed to move me. Beautifully arranged, written, and produced..This is real music for grown folks. I miss Lady T. I remember hearing on a Thursday that she was performing in Philly at the Dell the coming Saturday. I don't know how I did it. But I got 2 tickets 7 rows from the stage, a hotel room, and drove from Boston. I WAS NOT missing the Lady T. She did NOT disappoint.

I was in San Francisco and in Marin county in 1981… just turning 30. Oh my, I remember the very FIRST NOTES of Teena’s voice ! THIS SONG! I had just met my beautiful man with jet black hair and green eyes- a gorgeous physique and … he had NO IDEA of my grasp of music OR my instant connection to Teena. He was raised in a distant country on the Black Sea 🌊 He was a gifted artist; a sculptor and jeweler my same age. All my time spent with him, this song was hitting the radio airwaves every day! I was in heaven. There was the puppy pile party favor thing going round the bay. He was oblivious to all that. He was steeped into his art. We had a tiny eagles nest of a dwelling that had windows looking out onto Angel Island and the fishing boats for herring, that would complete the picturesque vista from the hills of Sausalito near the golden gate bridge. 🌉 FANTASTIC SETTING for eternal love 💕 for two 30 year old lovers.
