This film is a masterpiece on so many levels. One of the gems is seeing Nicholson's character struggle with expressing his positive feelings (insults and complaints come much more easily). I know many men with similar dispositions and I've never seen it done so tenderly as it is in this movie.

Profoundly unrealistic. He has no empathy. Thats why he doesnt even realize when he is being a jerk. Uses money to buy this girl's favors. The guy is a narcissist. Hes not even trying to be "better". He just wants this girl and thinks if he acts more like her, he will get her.

I have schizofrenia and when i broke up (well she broke up with me) with my first love at the age of 20 i started to go to an psychiatric and i called my ex girlfriend and told her i started to see a shrink. I had acute ocd - hospitalised with it - but with immersion therapy, cbt and the support of family and friends I now lead a normal life. Ocd thoughts only an issue if I get run down and tired but after a good sleep no problem. In short you can manage the disorder.
