Great video Luke!! Absolutely loved it. And this coming from a Venture X fanboy. I upgraded a Venture to a Venture X with no bonus because it actually costs me less. The $300 spend isn't difficult to hit, and if you do it on Delta (probably others), you still earn your Delta miles and your status carries through, as I was upgraded based on status. Sure, it cost me 5% on that $300, but not a big deal. I recently transferred 120K Cap 1 points to Flying Blue as part of a trip when I got almost 6cpp, so this card earns me money. My wife just got one as well as the 75K SUB will certainly go towards a future trip. 2% catch-all cards to me are underrated, with mine, when I'm not earning a SUB, go towards car insurance, electric, gas, water, trash, and every mundane spend you can think of. I earn more points @ 2% than I do at 5% on flights.

I can grok your POV. I have the classic 2x miles on everything Venture $95 AF card. If I traveled more than I do these days I would accept a product upgrade if they offered it. But I have no plans to apply for it outright. Other than their lounges at IAD and Denver and international partner's lounges, there's few extra benefits with X that justify the extra $300. It's still 2x points on my everyday purchases...meh!

Super easy for me to use the credit. Needed a decent hotel for a football game, easy redemption on the portal and same price as booking it direct. I only get this card every few years for the welcome bonus. I will say if you aren’t finding great bookings on air Canada you’ve gotta look harder. Lufthansa, ANA all there at great rates.
