Very helpful! Thank you for taking the time to talk through this.

well, if the owner won’t do what’s necessary to provide that info, there’s not much the bookkeeper can do. Yes there are bad bookkeepers but a lot is dependent on the client.

He hit the mark there. They (business owners) don’t realize how much information is actually in their books

I cannot imagine a bookkeeper not reconciling accounts. This just amazes me.

Excellent feedback. Am I wrong if I say that it would be nice if new bookkeepers volunteer first for accountants so we could learn from them? Good luck Ms. Margie on your new Accounting education. Hands on! Hands on! may work much much better with your new approach and I, indeed, recommend anyone out there to take your Accounting classes. Kudos to your team!

Accountants might feel it is a burden to have them work for them for free, as they typically don't have time to train new people. If you are going to volunteer (which I don't see a need to, but it's your choice), it would be better to volunteer for a business owner, then show off your skills when you hand off the books to the accountant/tax preparer.

I'd suggest finding a competent bookkeeper rather than a CPA. Unfortunately, there are lots of CPAs who are just as careless as the bookkeepers they're discussing.

I do think it makes a difference on the level of service your client pays for. For example, if a client is Paying for classification but conciliation and financial reports and their fee reflects that then that’s all they’re going to get. If the client requires more time and detailed review of reports, then that has to be accounted for in the price.

I understand what you're saying here, but we believe that reconciliation should be a basic service delivered as part of any package. If you are not offering this basic service, you're really doing the business owner an injustice.

Not yet, I was wondering the same thing. There’s a waitlist in the description, just signed up. So I’m guessing not yet.

I would love to know how much it’s going to be. I have 3 courses I’m looking at for next year and a limited budget. 🤞

@@kellimoss9559 yeah good question. Have you ever done any of Margie’s other courses? Her stuff is insanely good.

@ yes! I’m finishing up the cleanup course now. Her courses are the reason I was able to pass the QBO cert exams my first try!
