St. John has become too discovered these days. I don’t even visit certain beaches like trunk bay anymore due to the crowds.

Much of the ambient noise you're going to experience will certainly be wind. I still remember it very well since 1997 (also in March).

I've been to many beautiful beaches, this has to be my favorite.. I'm not a huge St. Thomas fan, but Sapphire Beach is beautiful for anyone who can't make it to St. John.

We love it more- back nearly 10 times. Tip- next time stay in STJ in Cruz Bay. Hit up Trunk every morning at sunrise and just be. Put down the camera. Be disconnected and just float. It is magical. No one will be there...except perhaps us. You can thank me later.

Snorkel gear is available for rent but we did not rent gear, we brought our own. $10 I think.

Befriend a family sitting on the beach or stash in bushes …

St. John is also known as Love City. The people there are beautiful and you are not shoulder to shoulder on the beach. Your stuff will be fine

LOL. No body wants your dirty clothes. It's wide open there so you can very easily keep an eye on things. If you have real concerns, put some items like cash and phone in a plastic bag and bury it near your spot. Just remember where you buried it. I have put hundreds of dollars of stuff on the beach and left it on long walks. Not a best practice, but nobody touched it. I would not do this in nearby St Thomas. Not a fan.
