You did a great job breaking down the gameplay! Still haven't played the demo yet, but I can say they took one of the most important parts of Bayonetta, that being the flashiness of combat. I haven't played action games with more methodical combat, but I feel this one will really be the one that hooks me on that type of gameplay. Overall, I can't stop thinking about this game. I can't stress enough just how glad I am that this is going beyond expectations! For me, this is the game that will finally be THE must own title for the PS5. None of the games up untill now have resonated with me as much, and thus really still play mostly on my Switch. That'll probably still be the case, but I feel Stellar Blade does such a great job at utilizing everything PS5 offers, which is what I wanted for the longest time. Since you asked for a Sekiro comparison, I played Sekiro for hundreds of hours and even managed to pull of a no hit run once and I would say that the parry timing is pretty close to Sekiros. At least once you get the second parry skill unlock which increases the parry window. Before that its more in line with Lies of Ps parry timings. In case you wonder what that means: Sekiros parry window consisted of 13 frames based on 60 FPS. Lies of P had, if I am not remembering wrong, 8 parry frames based on 60 FPS. My personal take is, that Stellar Blade is the most fun I had with combat since Sekiro! I enjoyed Lies of P a lot aswell but Stellar Blades flashy, dynamic and fast combat rly gets me!

Ive never paid any attention to the noise which I find ridiculous, i will always go on my feeling for a game, mainstream reviews can be helpful in giving an overview of a game but when it comes to gameplay I find they either align with my thoughts or are extremely wide of the mark due to subjectivity. Instead of fixating on her appearance, I found myself deeply immersed in unraveling the world she inhabits and her backstory. The deflects in this game are closer to Thymesia in my opinion, the interval between deflecting and attacking is quite longer in sekiro, but in Thymesia… you can attack right away after deflecting/parrying an attack, allowing you to attack even in the middle of the enemy combos while defending yourself which makes the combat a lot faster and chaotic. I pre ordered the deluxe edition of the game, can’t wait to play it. I hope that the story is as good if not actually better than the games it got inspired from.

Really good video, I pretty much agree with all of your points. I already looked forward to it, and after playing the demo, I'm pretty much fully sold on the game. While at first I was thrown off a bit as I didn't got the feel of the combat on my first try, once I hit the training mode and practiced for a bit, all the pieces started to fit and boy oh boy, it felt really nice. I also liked how enemies were scattered, rather than filling the entire area with creature to fight, it gives enough breathing room for players to explore and not feel tense at every turn, but not scarce enough so as to feel empty. The discourse about Eve's design was awfully overblown by everyone, and became a topic that, unfortunately, somewhat overshadows the proper content of the game, but to me, it's merely the cherry on top of the cake, something nice on top of many other good things about the game, just like Bayonetta. Also, as someone who aspires to be an artist, you are indeed very much correct in regards to artistic liberty and creativity, like, just take a look at the many greek sculptures and statues, they depicted the human beauty as how the percieved it, and became part of the fundamentals of art. Big thanks for your coverage of the demo, seeing your videos, challenges and just your pasion for the game has been fun, definitely looking forward to your gameplay on the full release.

The parry timing for sekiro is the same. Sekiro is my favorite fromsoft game and I've beaten it multiple times. Did the boss rushes as well. The biggest difference is that there is more animation lock in Stellar blade. Another thing is that most of the time, bosses are stunned if you hit them with a basic attack in Sekiro. This makes the "dance" of when to attack and when not to quite different. In stellar blade you can only stun an enemy with certain special attacks (usually using your beta gauge). So, I would say the combat in stellar blade is a little more cautious. I love it though and it's a nice change of pace imo for the action game genre.

I am also getting two physical copies (though I probably only need the one), but my reasoning is that I'm from NA, thus getting the NA one (and don't feel like cancelling the pre-order since I support this company), but I really want the JP version. A note on languages, as that matters to some players, like me. - EN VA's felt kind of flat. They may get better later on, but they were not amazing or even great. They are passable.... - KR VA's are really good. However, personally, I cannot understand KR and in the middle of action sequences, don't feel like reading subtitles (not that I cannot, I do way to much Anime to not be good at reading subtitles while watching things, but sometimes just don't want to read subtitles). Sadly, JP VA's are not included in the EN releases of Stellar Blade. Only the JP version can (possible licensing issues). - JP VA's are amazing. Not knowing the KR language as well, I do not know how well it was done (though they sounded right, good emotions and the like), but I do actually understand spoken Japanese. So for me, I can do both subtitles and do without (for 80% of what is spoken). The JP VA's do an amazing job as one has come to expect from the behemoth of a country that does VA work for both Anime and Games and how they treat their VA's as well as America treats their Hollywood actors (and holds them to such higher standards.... not that all EN VA's are bad, there are some amazing ones, but it sadly isn't as big or prevalent and often treated as second class citizens compared to the Hollywood stars in the US). - THANKFULLY, the JP version of Stellar Blade has ALL languages for both voice and text PLUS of course, Japanese. - Meaning you can get a JP copy of the game and you will have access to the JP VA's while also playing the game entirely with English Text and Subtitles. - The JP version itself is also seemingly cheaper to get, at only $56 for a phys copy on PlayAsia (plus shipping, ordered mine there for $64 after tax and shipping). Well, that extra is just for anyone else that was hoping for JP VA's like me. You can even make a JP PSN account on your PS5 (just swap users, make a new account and say your country of origin is JP) and you can download the JP version of the Demo if you want to try out the JP VA's to make your decision. It is the exact same demo. Same options. Only the JP VA's are added as an option. EN VA's and Text is available and is default to English because of the default set on your console. So nothing difficult to swap settings that you want going through a menu you cannot read (the JP PSN store though will have JP text you might want to know how to navigate... not hard, but is something for those that cannot read it). YOU DO NOT need a JP PSN account to play import physical copies of games though. You can play those on any region's account. So yay on that. No region locking (okay, there is some region locking, but only on DVD and Blu-Ray movies IF those discs have region protection activated on them, which most do not) for games. Of course that is all my personal opinion and if not having the option to have the JP VA's means nothing to you, then it's fine to ignore all that. Though I do think it is odd that the import costs less than the one from my own region that doesn't even have a shipping cost attached to it....

After downloading both the NA and JP Demo, I can confirm that at least in the demo's (thus most likely the official game too), this is also the case.

Thinking about picking up a ps5 by the end of the month, and this might aswell be the first game I buy, as it were the case when I bought NieR: Automata together with the ps4.

I'm buying a PS5 for this (always been a PC gamer), just not sure whether to get it now or wait for the Pro.
@halfwaytillbliss9 ай бұрын
Hi there, I've also been a PC gamer for 15 years at this point. I recently got my PS5 last holiday season. If you ask me, since technology is so frequently updated it's not worth living in fear of missing out on the next thing. As soon as the Pro drops, it can be easy to slip into a mindset of "but PS6 could be just a few years away, maybe I should wait." If you want it, enjoy it 👍

Wait.. MONACA??? I know them from Gems Company and maybe more specifically Mizushina Aoi.

You know who doesn't look real? Donkey Kong!!! The apes have taken to Twitter claiming its creating unrealistic expectations of Apes. Lol Unrealistic design... who cares... it's a video game. Have you seen how insanely strange Beyonetta's body and face are in Beyonetta 1? I'm not sure how people can complain about the combat. I think maybe they just don't get it. Remember there are people who absolutely hate Elden Ring.

I’ll play the game if it comes to PC or not at all personally. I won’t buy a console that has so many patronizing games on it (God of war ragnarok, Alan wake 2 etc)

I dont really play these type of games but saw some demo vids and thought it looked gorgeous so tried it out last night for about an hour and i fell in love with it. Im a huge fan of dystopian post apocalyptic cyberpunk sci-fi and lets be honest beautiful women in skin tight outfits 😂 Im also a fan of games in 3p that are hack and slash but with a combat system that isn't over the top fast and takes skill and timing. This demo hit all these boxes and i am sold. I will be spending s lot of time on this demo. I love the animation, world and am intrigued by the story. Special edition for me.

So Is Eve an android, or a human? Also did we find a way to unlock the one busted chest in Bar99?

Loved the Detroit become human reference

On the topic of Eve’s design, I’d like to comment on how her design is also an homage to the OG Metroid. Before the ending, players did not know that Samus Aran, the first female MC of Nintendo, was a woman, and many assumed Samus was a man. After that, we’ve had many strong female protagonists like Lara Croft, Bayonetta, and 2B. I like Eve’s original suit because it’s a tribute to how far women’s representation in media has gone. Long story short: *Allow more beautiful and strong female protagonists, game companies.*

You have to play Sekiro, you would love it;) I think these two games nailed parry timing.
@Metal464Head9 ай бұрын
Swift up would have just deliver a meh action game, emphasing only on the fan service/sexyness of the MC, but no. They deliver a high end quality of game with a very strong combat system. Kudos to them.

I love the visuals, but the overall gameplay and combat feel a bit clunky/janky and not as fluid and smooth. And sometimes its even unresponsive. They need to fix those and it's perfect
@burakcoskun389 ай бұрын
@@blackhaze_gaming exactly, apart from being janky/clunky there's also this weird input delay sometimes like eve reacts delayed to ur input its not a huge deal but quite noticable and sometimes really frustrating i hope but im afraid it could become a pain in the behind in the long run. did they fix that issue u mentioned about lies of p?
@tehCostHD9 ай бұрын
You guys are doing something wrong or just don’t know what you’re talking about. There is no input delay. If you click a button and nothing happens it’s because you are already in an uncancleable animation and you must wait till it’s done to be able to dodge or parry. Not all of her combos are like this and some CAN be canceled and you have to learn which ones are safe and which are not. I beat the boss challenge without taking any damage. There is no input delay or dropped inputs if you play correctly. There is nothing to fix.
@arielm98479 ай бұрын
@@blackhaze_gaming "weird input buffering where i would let go of L1 and press circle, but the game read my input as if i used a beta skill rather than the dodge button, the parry animation is too delayed and sometimes unresponsive like you said" I had the exact same problem. Especially the input buffering. I fixed it by forcing my TV into Game mode. After that, the whole problem went away and inputs are clean and I get exactly what I press or don't press.
@burakcoskun389 ай бұрын
@@arielm9847 the problem is it shouldn't be dependant on game mode as not all tvs got game mode they need to fix it on their side
@burakcoskun389 ай бұрын
@@tehCostHD nah we're playing the game like its supposed to be played but if there r input delays and a clunky and janky feeling during combat then that's the issue with the games technical aspect. Theres much to fix especially the jank and clunk and delay even the official page on Twitter said u should turn on game mode if there is a delay and feels unresponsive. Which shouldn't be dependant on mode of the tv. They definitely need to fix it

to the people saying she looks unrealistic, well shes obviously either an android or biologically enhanced or how could she fight monsters tbh.. sooo its kinda like no duh lol

Its a good game but I am not fully sold after playing the demo. Actions/movements did feel a bit off and some of the physics also felt odd (like her hair) and backdrops of levels (sometime) feel too static. With that said, based on my experience with demo, I would say its a solid 7/10. But I guess we'll know more when the game is fully released.
@roachey9 ай бұрын
If the exclusivity deal ends I'll buy it on PC. No way I'd get a PS5 just for a few games.
@zippo711119 ай бұрын
I hope this turns out to be good all the way through, the demo was good. Music was incredible, reminds me of something i would hear from nier automata or final fantasy 13. The game looks unique and a bit different from mainstream games. She (the character) looks good and i would rather look at something nice for hours than a hippo belonging to some sort of minority group or whatever the crap they whine about not being included . It feels like a game where i can disconnect from reality and just enjoy the road ahead.

It amazes me how the Twitter crowd keeps saying "Where is the gameplay! All I keep seeing is coomer bait garbage with the main coomer bait protagonist!" and I'm like...do you guys go anywhere else outside of Twitter? A good search on KZbin will show you tons and tons and tons and TONS of actually gameplay footage that is not just coomer bait. Like...how slow are these people?
