Living in Ghana now has made me understand the value of money even more, because now I know first hand how inflation affects citizens on "THEIR" budget, not my western mindset. Now I'm bargaining with prices and services like a local. Seriously, Ghana must grow more of their own food, and citizens must buy more local goods. Let's start there.

It's the govt that should get serious. The fooling is too much. Just ban/reduce the import of rice, tomatoes, sugar, chicken, stuff we can produce here locally. That one too we can't do? Nigeria has banned the import of rice, and there's huge patronage for Nigeria rice. We should go beyond appeals for Ghanaians to buy made in Ghana stuff. Ban/reduce imports and support local production. Oh

True, and the mindset of the citizenry must change too, because I have to search for local rice, because the citizenry mostly want foriegn rice.

I use to shop here every Saturday when I lived in Ghana. The gov't needs to work on the agriculture sector. For those saying it's cheap because of the conversion, the prices are not cheap for the average Ghanaian. Agbogbloshie market is like the wholesale for the neighborhood grocery shops. You can imagine their prices. For the average Ghanaian, this is unsustainable.

Accra is gradually becoming a city for the rich and mid class… its developing so fast making cost of living quite high. Accra is turning into New York, london and many other expected cities. Eventually people will start moving to other regions for survival. Its just a matter of time unfortunately.

This video really opened my eyes. I am being cheated at DOME market, the tomatoes I buy for 40 cedis in the market here is not even up to 20 pieces. I need to go to makola markets. Sometimes these sellers notice you’re not Ghanaian and they increase the prices. Same thing with buying of sanitary pad the other day, this lady sold me pad for 30 cedis and it cost about 15 cedis or 10 when I later bought at the mall. It’s not really good what some of these sellers do to foreigners who don’t speak their language.

Why do u have to go that far from tema to agbogbloshi for food stuff , i hope the price will worth the trip . Kind of make sense cause a friend told me they go there at night hours , at a time the traders want to let go by droping the prices so they can quickly sell and bounce . So the timing is very strategic . I will rather later in the evening than early morning cause in the morning they got the whole day to nyaaga on the prices but in evening hours they got to go and must get rid of the perishable like tomattoes

Great video. I hope the lady carrying your purchases was paid well. I'm sure that tub was getting heavy! And do they just walk around and wait for someone to hire them? I think that type of work is interesting. You should do a video on it.

Most of those ladies are from the 'poorer' northern parts of Ghana which has only one planting season. So when there're no rains, they come down south to work as head porters etc. They are able to maneuver wares through our crowded, unpaved markets

Jasmine dear, what up? You know in this video, you and Aisha bought those little curry packets at the market, and I would like a picture of it if possible because that particular curry powder is so tasty and give a great aroma to the food. The one I have is dismissed longtime ago and I don’t even remember the name, so when I saw it in the video I figured you could hook me up with the picture, that way I can ask somebody to buy for me when they are coming to the States😂

Great to see such a vibrant moving market ..but concern about the use of black plastic bags ..which is use to serve you whenever you buy your food stuff ..Jasmin. please use your Chanel platform to introduce & educate the use of recycling shopping bags. You can shop with your own shopping recycling bags. Please !! how much black bags are you taking home to fill your bin !!.our gutters & rivers are dirty with plastic bags rubbish ..let's all play our part to keep Ghana clean 🙏

The govt that should be championing this is asleep. Every modern important country is ditching plastic but not Ghana. Crowded important cities are doing Bus Rapid Transit brt but not Ghana, hotel prices are cheaper in richer more popular Nigeria, Kenya etc but not Ghana etc etc. To tell you how upside down some stuff are here

If I bought all that here in the USA, I would be looking at around $200 and little bit, the meat alone would run about $100, good buy I need to move to Ghana..🤣🤣

You also have to remember that you need to earn decent salary in ghana to live there permanently. Expat life won’t work. This is why ghana is in this problem because people outside still think it’s cheap until they move there and no more money coming in.
