Update 2 has DRAMATICALLY increased the amount of fun you get running around in the open world and especially the deceleration options and spin dash in cyberspace! Just needs some tighter turning and fix the boost reset being inconsistent (like the mod manager patch) and I’ll have basically no complaints with the movement in Cyberspace!

With the spin dash needing no charging to go stupidly fast it makes speed running stages like 3-1 so much fun being able to skip large chunks of the stage that normally take 5 or more seconds to do.

Its because the drop dash is in the game and they simply just combine the spin dash with the drop dash. So I consider this as a improvement to the drop dash.

Ngl, as a veteran sonic fan, I see that this isnt the true momentum everyone was hoping for but honestly, with some polish, I feel like for this game and others like it in the future(open zone games,) this is better for control. one of the main issues people spoke about with games like adventures 1 and 2, heroes and other games with true momentum was that they were slippery when performing basic platforming. I feel like the kind of artificial momentum they have here can be polished up and used with a dedicated environment for the next game and give us a better experience since Frontiers is the best sonic has ever controlled in 3D. I cant wait to see how they utilize what they have here and how it looks all polished up.

In terms of momentum and spin dash, SA1 still takes the crown for best imo but frontiers does its own thing that still feels good albeit without polish.
