What absolutely nobody talks about, and something I will say here, is that this park is actually in an amazing location. If you're looking for other amusement parks in the area, other than a couple little childrens parks you aren't going to get it. However, the lake michigan coast is absolutely stacked with beautiful towns, with Muskegon being one of my personal favorites. Go check out the Deck restaurant, a fantastic all outdoor restaurant right on the beach where you can see 3 different lighthouses, one of which you can go inside of. Go right up the road and see 2 historic ships, including a WW2 submarine and a coast guard vessel. Not to be outdone, they have another ship that was there in the D Day invasion. And the downtown is beautiful right on the lake. That's not to mention Holland with the Windmill and other Dutch amenities, Grand Haven with the Musical Fountain. Countless beaches, lighthouses, and small quaint towns all offering their own unique charm, with Grand Rapids being a very underrated city just 45 minutes away. When you have many parks in this country that are out in the middle of nowhere, this one is in an amazing area and not checking out the area while you're out there is a crime.

As a GR resident thank you for your kind words. There's so many good coastal towns because a lot of Old Money from Chicago worked its way up the coast in tourism over the past century or so, but as a result a lot of wonderful communities exist. I'm really happy to live around here even if the rent is way more expensive than it should be, even compared to the national averages rn.

My all time favorite coaster and my home park! I was there a couple Sundays ago and managed to ride it 7 times in under an hour. Amazed to see 2 train ops so early in the season. One of those rides was in row 11. Rows 1-3 were full and the rest of the train was completely empty. Possibly the wildest ride of my life! The whip over every hill and turn was insane. Watching all those empty cars bouncing was surreal. And you're absolutely right about the blue train, waaay smoother ride. When they are on one train ops it seems like it's always green that's running so it probably gets more mileage. Rain rides are amazing. Lines got longer for you then because most of the GP is usually in the water park.

I love the woodies at Michigan's Adventure! We went to Timbers Fest (the ACE event) last year and it was our first, and so far only, time at the park. It was a great event with great weather. Indiana isn't perfect but one definite perk to living here is the proximity to so many world class parks within a short drive but I have never tried to do them consecutively! That's hard core!

Only been to Michigan Adventure once. I was going to school in Grand Rapids and randomly decided to go to the Michigan Adventure waterpark with some friends on a random Saturday in 2008. Wasn't planning on doing any rides but the combo ticket was like $10 more so we just did that because Thunderhawk looked like it might be fun. Thunderhawk was pretty mediocre and we weren't planning on riding Shivering Timbers because the only wooden roller coasters any of us had been on were Mean Streak and Blue Streak and didn't feel like getting our shit rocked by a rough as hell coaster on the way out but we decided fuck it and rode it anyway. That was probably the best coaster decision I've ever made in my life. We got off and road it 3 more times. I'm a big fan of wooden coasters now and I don't know if I would have ever given them another chance if Shivering Timbers hadn't changed my perception.
@ninjagirl2264 ай бұрын
I’m confused on the combo ticket thing. MI adventures has always “two parks for the price of one fun fun”. And I know I went to the park in 2008. One ticket got you into both parks. That was when Thunderhawk opened, which was my favorite ride in the park back then cause I liked inverting coasters.

Michigander here. When I was a kid and just starting off on my rollercoaster journey, my family and I went to Michigan's Adventure. My dad, mom, and I went on the corkscrew (my brother was scared so he didn't ride), and it had rained before be boarded. We got stuck on it for SEVEN cycles because the brakes were wet, and it wouldn't stop. Idk if that's the same corkscrew or not though. Let's just say, I was terrified after that, and you'd think I would never ride a coaster again, but I LOvE them.

Whatsa dude! Love your content and as a Shivering Timbers fanatic this video inspired me to get up and take some laps on my Favorite of 80 woodcoasters and my number 3 overall for the first time this year. And after 56 rides on Sunday I have some additional takes to add and present you with this wall of Text TL;DR: I love this ride, it's a buffet of different airtime moments with some lats for desert, Blue Train is best train, but Green Train now has old Blue Train Cars in it and those ones are the most smooth. First, I love this coaster and I love that you love it as well. And I'm so glad that the secret knowledge of Blue Train lore and have leaned on your 3 seconds faster while waiting in line with folks this weekend to explain the difference. And I can confirm that it is the more enjoyable front row experience. -This thing really starts to hit it's stride around 2-ish in the afternoon. -I've been sleeping on the Green Train and it gave some amazing out of control return run rides. This may or may not be due to the Green Train and Blue train both being a combination of cars since the incident back 2 years ago. But the back two cars in the Green Train are ex Blue Train cars in Disguise and IMO they are by far smoother than the middle (ex Green train cars) of the Blue Train. You can see the paint underneath the most current rows in a few places. I suspect, haven't confirmed, that Cars 1, 5 and 6 on both trains are the old Blue Train and 2,3,4 are old Green Train, but I'll investigate later on this season -Row Preference is currently 1, 12 (if my back is good for it) 9, 11, and then 3 and 2. -The ride really is just a series of Double ups with a few Parabolic hills interspersed in between them. -The return run is absolutely electric, especially in the back, and dare I say the Green Train's back row may be a bit more intense than the Blue Trains. But that's probably dependent more on the number/size of people in the train. -They key to knowing if you have a full train or a light train and a mid ride is if you get sustained floater over the first double up. It really hits with a train full of corn eating dairy fed midwestern fathers. But if you stay out of your seat over that hill then you're in for a treat -Not sure if you noticed the sneaky Magnum Triangle hill hidden in there, it's right after the old trick track/new GCI Hills -I love hitting that GCI section, its a fun reminder that other styles of Airtime exist on the ride, and that, coupled with the Triangle hill, all the speed hills and parabolas, this coaster really delivers a buffet of different airtime options for just about every different taste -That pothole on the second hill is bad, but it looked like there was steel being staged in a pile next to that hill which is what I would be doing if I was going to be working on that area -One final interesting thing, there seems to almost always be a man lift around the low point in the turn around. I'm assuming based on how much laterals that part of the coaster pulls in that part that the structure there needs constant review/observation Final closing thought from this Shivering Timbers obsessed enthusiast. I often wonder how much money the park has to sink into maintaining Timbers each year. It can't be cheap, to pay for all that lumber and man hours. I do wonder if/how that impacts the parks ability to afford new investments.

I love Shivering Timbers! It's only 125 feet tall, but it punches way above its class. I like the anecdote about the ride's construction, how the train came barreling into the brake run so unexpectedly fast that CCI added the helix at the end just to burn off some of that energy.

I place this coaster above because you get the classic cars, screams, sounds, etc. I don’t just mean wooden - just look at all those hills and ‘air time’. Sure I305 is memorable fighter jet like giga experience but just as you’re really into it… its over… shivering timbers has as much time your flying on i305 in just going over just the top of those hills.
