I'm just now starting to sing, so I'm finding your teaching super helpful. Out of curiosity did you ever work with John Ondrasik (Five for Fighting)? I remember hearing him say that he was classically trained by a famous opera voice instructor but I can't remember who it was. Could it have been you?

Can you tell why Axl Rose doesn't use his raspy voice with the frequency he used in the past?

What do you call Axl's way of singing, (higher stuff, notes) raspy, (now and before U), is there any name for it, how to do it (what voice or part of the body to find it) ;-) And no one ever gave me an answer, all wrong...

Hello, Axl uses a full range, His voice can go over the whole range from bass to high notes, his physicality and training have allowed him to develop and open the voice to where his placements are in the correct position at all times. He uses the voixtek Methods which is the only method based on the Bel Canto technique available to the public with all explanations on how the body connects to the projection of sound freeing your voice without any constriction in your throat areas and using the resonators as his escape valve

Personally, I like Ken Tamplin better. He can at least sing and show you what he's talking about. This guy takes rockers and basically turns them into Mickey Mouse (like Axl's voice has become). Can this guy even sing himself? Can he demonstrate? Check out Ken Tamplin's website and videos - he DOES answer your question as to how to correctly sing, including how to sing with rasp and distortion, without blowing out your voice - or ending up sounding like Mickey Mouse.

Go listen to John Frusciante in the early 90s compared to his voice in the 2000s. That is one example of why Ron is great.

KentuckyWoman2 KentuckyWoman2 listen to Ron sing here right in this video. He sang in the metropolitan opera house in Manhattan for 20+ years. He takes those proven techniques and applies them to pop, rock, etc. I have never studied with Ken Tamplin, but I have watched his videos and yes he can sing, but I hear a lot of constriction and compression that I do not think would work for active touring performers, 2 hour shows, etc.
