I always remember someone asking Jeff why he didn’t have as much of an accent as his brother. He said it was because Ward’s bedroom was in the south end of the house, and his was in the north.

I miss Ward Burton. He wan't the greatest race car driver, but he was a good guy and a good personality. As far as the wreck, I can't remember a single time that Jimmie wrecked someone on purpose and I have only missed one race during his career and that was the 2006 All-Star race (that Jimmie won) because I was on a cruise. However, I do remember him causing a lot of crashes on the superspeedways during the first four years of his career. He finally figured it out in 2006 somehow.

It sounded like I heard the late great Benny Parsons voice in that clip, gosh, he was great on the track and as an announcer, he had an awesome deep voice, sort of like a Gorilla Monsoon of NASCAR. I can’t forget when you were racing at Talledega and you(Jimmie) were neck in neck with Dale Jr in his red Bud car for the win and I think, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it was Brian Vickers that tried getting around you, tipped your back end, you spun into Jr and Vickers went on to win the race. All your fans and Jr fans were throwing beer and pop cans at him in Victory Lane, haa, haaaa, I was cussing big time too. I look back and that was a memorable moment in watching your career. Also the great last lap rivaling between you and Edwards when he drove that green Scott’s car, I think it was, they were exciting even when you didn’t win. You always reminded me of David Pearson, he always used to lay back until the last laps and then turn it on, it was great. I am gonna miss that so much. No one did it better than you, Petty, Dale Sr and Pearson. I’m proud to put you in the Royal Family of NASCAR.

I used to always have Ward on my scanner. I remember him saying one time “ It starts off real good but after 10 laps it just goes to shit” There was a NASCAR man never knew who he was but loved to listen to him I called him the General because he dictated everything that was done at the tracks as far as clean ups after wrecks and how many laps to green and other things. At Atlanta one time he told the Official over Buck Shot Jones car that they were going 2 laps down. 1 for speeding down pit road and 1 for just being an idiot
