Don't see why people are being such salted pretzels. It's not like she picked anything THAT embarrassing (or said anything THAT rude), not to mention these people are obvious fans of Ellen's so they should know that this segment is a possibility and they should be prepared for it.. not to mention they probably contacted them and had gotten consent before the show started. Plus, if they didn't want people to see it, don't put it on Facebook and have your profile set to public. Anything you put on Facebook (with your profile public) is free access to anyone, your face could be photo shopped onto a porn star for all you know. If you're really that embarrassed of a picture: a. Don't upload it (which is preferable), b. Delete it, or c. Set the picture (or your profile) to private. Easy as that.

Well first off i would assume these audience members are asked before hand for their permission. So everything said henceforth is just semantics,. If this was a surprise to them then i would have to agree that it is wrong to do so. why would it even matter if the photos are public or private. It's not surprising Ellen thinks this is the norm, because for a celebrity its normal for shows to have segments talking and joking about them without permission so why not just flip that on the audience. Well essentially it is a different situation to me because the person has been unwillingly trapped in that situation. And has to sit there and defend themselves from speculatory accusations from the host and crowd. Now obviously everything was fun and games and Ellen meant no ill intent and the audience members were fine with participation it would seem so no harm no foul. But i still ponder whether more people would be outraged if Ellen was a man bringing up some skimpy Halloween costume and that lady's pole dancing classes. Just on a side note, i hate that people think pole dancing is some kind of normal exercise without its own set of problems. As if it being in a dance studio and your choice makes it somehow not the same tool sex dancers have been using to turn men's brains to mush since it was first conceived . And why when you pick up a dance thats ment to be slutty and designed to gain sexual attention would you ever at all be surprised that a man has responded to you in a sexual way. To me that is like being angry you caught a bear, when alls you have been doing is setting bear traps. Sure you might be using those bear traps for another purpose but they are still gonna work the same way. :\

It's in the terms of service, they own everything on your Facebook legally. That information can also be accessed by people who have the knowledge to either hack into your account, or those servers, and can at any time be made public. I don't think a lot of people, including you, realize that. The default settings are pointless.

I think it's really good that Ellen does this, because besides being funny and making us laugh - it's quite educational. Nowadays people literally have no boundaries when it comes to social networks such as Facebook and everyone should be aware that everything they upload on facebook is PUBLIC. Facebook isn't a place for your nudes and pictures you would be embarassed of. Remember, anyone can see your profile, your boss, co-workers, family, students (if you're a teacher) etc.

Why should Ellen be ashamed? She isn't the one who posted these pictures, the people posting them, posted them knowingly to a public space. FB has privacy settings which they chose not to use, so that means any---clearly---anyone can access your pictures. If you don't want your business out to the world, then either don't post publicly or don't take pictures like this in the first place.

Be nice. No need for hatred words. No one is perfect, men or women. I agree with maximumrisk2004. FB is great for people to re-connect and at the same time it adds fire to a marriage (I've seen it happened to many couples). Like any other social network, FB is all about the facade. For instance, I've seen women (I know) showing pics of themselves on FB looking happy (partying here & there) but the truth is they are broke as hell and are very lonely. I don't see anything good comes out of FB. That is why, thumbs down on FB for me. However, I do believe FB is wonderful when it comes to bus marketing & law enforcement seeking help from the public.

3:10 so weird how in america this is something embarrassing and weird, and the immediate innuendo is that she's a prostitute or exotic dancer that wants money in her pants. Meanwhile here in china it's like, no bigger deal than learning to dance ballet. Married women tweet pics of their pole dancing classes in the morning and nobody thinks its any big deal what so ever. Just another hobby like anything else, ballet, ice skating, jogging, going to the gym etc.. No innuendo about that person being less valued or being slutty or being less classy. Unlike if the same pic was shown in usa.

It's called a "stripper pole" in the U.S. When strippers dance on the pole they do it naked. It's taboo here in America. Stripping isn't "bad" but it is taboo here. It's definitely not something that you advertise publicly if you're a dancer/stripper. Making money for letting (mostly) men look at your naked body is frowned upon.

This is a privacy issue. I'm not saying you are a perverted stalker, but if you were you could simply do this: Press print screen Paste it into imgur.com or similar Right click and search google by images. That's funny. I know a lot of people who brag about actually having a low friend count because it shows they're closer to more people rather than having a lot of loose acquaintances.
